  2. hi all we have a windows 2003 server and a mix of windows 2000 and xp workstatins and ranger desktop security, we have restricted the student desktops using the ranger admin manager and GPO's but the students can still drag and drop onto the desktop, we have also set file / sharing permissions on the server folders to read only for students and removed inherant permissions but still they drag and drop all idea's welcome to how we can stop this thanks for any help Paul
  3. The temperature in our 6' x 18' windowless, unventilated, non-air conditioned server cupboard has now reached 36c. The noise from the "cooling" fans roaring at full revs on 3 servers, a UPS and a switch rack must be over a safe level for H&S. If I had a brighter lightbulb, and a criminal inclination, I could grow some cannabis to ease the working environment! As it is I'm thankful for VNC.
  4. And I've used both methods recently. Cylinder vacuum = sucks one end and blows out tother. I don't know about your hairdryer but mine has a cold air setting. Shove a peice of plastic pipe over the nozzle and direct to the site of the problem.
  5. [Where abouts on tyneside are you?} A school in Gateshead. Thanks anyway!
  6. Sorry, no spares for that model. How about setting a vacuum cleaner or a hairdyer to blow air at the cpu as an emergency measure?
