So sorry chaps! Circumstances have meant that I haven't been back to the school yet, but I have just emailed the Head and asked her how much she wants for them. I will also get the exact specs on Monday (all being well!) but roughly there are 2 (maybe 3) sets of: Board (size and quantity): 78" Projector (type) and Remotes: Sanyo (with remote) Amp & Speakers: These are a new system that I have not seen in any other schools yet. They have a small white volume control and what appear to be active speakers so no separate amp. They may keep these though as they are replacing with 2+ boards - not sure if audio is integrated on these? Input: USB (if that's what you meant) Splitter: No - not needed as they are used with laptops Cage: No BECTA Box: No Where: Norfolk I will get back here as soon as I have more info. Cheers James

You're very welcome! And thank you for your discretion - it would be soooo embarrassing if anybody ever knew! I was also impressed by your Meriva - I nearly bought one myself a couple of years ago but then got something a bit cheaper. I think I might get one next time I'm changing cars though. I found the keys and some other bits for it, so let me know if you're in the Norwich area in the near future and we can arrange to meet up to hand them over. All the best James

A little impatient aren't we? I only visit that school once a week so I won't be able to get back to you with any more details for a few days. My original post was to try to find places to possibly sell the boards - I didn't expect anybody to necessarily want to buy them through here. I will post back when I can get some more details. Cheers James

As for size, I think they are 78s but need to check that. I did put in my original post though that the school want to replace them with short throw versions. As I understand it, the +2 boards are the short throw ones, or am I mistaken?

Hi Teddy Sorry for the delay. I hopefully have a new owner lined up now, but if anything changes, I'll let you know. With regard to your questions, a photo might be difficult as the rack is currently laying on it's side with other stuff piled up around it. However, it is in very good nick and is pretty similar to the new 4210 with a few cosmetic differences - see Dell picture attached. Thanks for your interest though.

Crick Clicker 5.2 and Softease Studio CT 6.008

I'd just like to say a big thank you to Softease. They have sent me the new (beta?) version as promised which I will test very shortly. I will post back here with my experiences if I discover anything interesting. -
I'm waiting for a response from the Head on that score. I will post back if/when i get one. I assume nobody has any brilliant ideas on ways to sell them for good money then... Mez

Hi all Can anybody recommend the best place (if there is one!) to sell a couple of Promethean IWBs with projectors? One of my schools is panicking about the HSE warnings about retinal damage, and wants to replace it's Reception boards (only a few months old) with short throw versions so the users do not stand in the beam as much. Heh, it's not my idea! I considered eBay, but I don't think they would go for much. Perhaps I'm wrong though... Cheers James

I have had some interest, but at the moment is still available. I went to check the size, but didn't have a proper tape to measure it with. Using a ruler though (!) it is approx 800mm deep and 600mm wide. Thanks James

Sorry TeddyKGB if I misinterpreted your post. Perhaps a smiley might have indicated the tone better? It would be good if you could just beam it over though - I don't suppose you have access to any stolen alien teleportation technology, do you?

PM replied to (I think!) - should it be in the Outbox or Sentbox?

Or maybe they could just use a van? I think I did make this clear... Sorry to appear sarcastic, but I am offering it for free. I'm not sure what more I can offer? :?

I believe that although the external panels can be removed, the internal frame is welded at the corners. And I also seem to remember some advice about not dismantling racks if possible as they are factory aligned and if pulled about too much can be a sod to get true again. But regardless of the overall size of the thing, it also weighs A LOT! I think it's about 200kg in total, and when new was specially mounted on a pallet for carriage, so using any sort of carrier to transport it is not really an option.

Perhaps if you have a car crusher available! 8O

Firstly, sorry if this is an inappropriate place for this - please advise if you think it should go elsewhere (other forum or other site). All being well, I should have a Dell 42U 7' server rack available (full enclosure with side panels and front/rear lockable doors). It is located in North Norwich and is available free of charge to a good home. The new owner will probably need to collect it, although it will probably fit in a small van (Astra/Escort) with the doors open! At a push I may even be able to arrange (local) delivery for you. It's in excellent condition and I might be able to find a few blanking plates etc., if required. If anybody is interested, please reply as soon as possible, as the present keeper wants to free up some space quickly! I have also "advertised" this elsewhere, so please don't be disappointed if it goes quickly. Thanks for your time. Cheers James

Crick Clicker 5.2 and Softease Studio CT 6.008

Thanks for the "speech fix.doc" file alonebfg, but already had that from Softease. It just didn't tally with what we had in the registry (and these are brand new builds btw). I spoke to my line manager today, and I mentioned your thoughts about a new version coming out. I thought I would try my luck and call Softease to ask them about the new version. Apparently the new BETA will be released in 1-2 weeks fingers crossed. I asked if I could get a copy to test and they have added me to their list for when it becomes available. As you say, they do provide updates within the same product line FOC. Even if I don't deploy the beta throughout all my schools just yet, at least I can test it and help them to iron out any problems before the final release. And to contink, I might have made a subtle name drop as you suggested! But as for suggesting that "someones doing things in a non-standard way" I can't believe you would even dream such a thing. Educational software being written in bizarre ways, whatever next?! Cheers James -
Good evening fellow EduGeeks! This is my first posting here, so please be gentle with me! I have a problem using Text-to-Speech with the two apps in the subject. They both appear to interfere with each other's registry entries so I have been unable to get both working simultaneously on the same machine. It should be possible to make both work I would have thought. We are using some Dell OptiPlex 170Ls and a few 320s also. Latest audio drivers installed. There are some vague mentions of this issue on the Crick site, and I can't find anything on the Softease site. I have contacted both companies, but so far they have yet to provide me with an answer. If anybody has had the same problem and found a brilliantly elegant solution to it (what the hell, any solution would be good!) I would be eternally grateful. If you need any further info, please let me know. Cheers James
