Hi Ben, I have heard about this, but I haven't tried it yet. Do you think it will stream quick enough? He would probably listen to the sound from the main classroom speakers so it would have to keep up with the video that is showing on the IWB. Or does this depend on the schools network speed?

I think somewhere I have got a few instructions, but I am currently not in my office, so I will look when I go later this afternoon. It is fairly straight forward, you go into the options bit and it is all there - to be honest most of the properties are a bit confusing to me, but I just played around with them and made sure the child had no control. Have you got anywhere with this - I am having the same problem, VNC is fine for viewing powerpoint etc, but when it comes to watching video clips / DVDs it doesn't refresh quick enough. Have you got an alternative method in place? I have looked at splitter cables - but for our secondary school kids this just wouldn't work as they move around too much and would have to carry it all.

I think a few people are worried about this, but you can make sure that the child can't get into anything by disabling their input. Also, you can set it up so that the teacher has to accept their request to view the computer. The teachers I have set it up for find it easy (maybe I have been lucky so far) but as long as all the settings are sorted for them and the child has the address already in the box so that they don't have to re-type it everytime it seems to be a success....apart from watching video clips!!! I just don't know how to get round this - I don't know if VNC is capable of showing them and it's just something I am doing wrong!!

We are using VNC for the same reason - visually impaired pupils accessing the IWB from their laptop - it is great for viewing powerpoint/word docs etc, but when the teacher plays a video clip, it won't show on the laptop - anyone else having this problem?? Is there anything I can do?
