I changed "everyone" to 'full control" as you suggested and students still get 'access denied' message.

I didn't see anything about not posting to two different areas.......if I missed something, I do apologize to everyone.

This is what I did: Made folder called "Public" and it is shared as "Public" and users have "Change and Read" permissions on the share. Inside the "Public" folder is a folder called "Test Dropbox". It is shared as "Test Dropbox and "Everyone" has "Change and Read" Under the Security Tab, "students" have Create Files/Write Data, Create Folders/Append Data, Write Attributes, Write Extended Attributes and Read permissions. "Apply these permissions to objects and or containers within this container only is not checked. In Advanced Security setting box....Allow inheritable permission from the parent to this object and all child objects is not checked. Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child object is not checked.

I checked and made sure all of what you listed were checked. When student logged on he got 'dropbox is not accessible' 'access is denied'

When I select 'List Folder/Read Data' or 'Read Permissions' the students can then get into the folder and open and make changes to the documents. Teachers want students to just 'drop' in their assignment and not be able to access or see their work or other students work.

I gave students 'write' and when they tried to save they got the message 'access denied'.

Tried just "write".....when student tried to save to the folder he got the message "access is denied".

I would like to make a student drop box ( a homework folder) where the students can save documents only. I don't want students to see the other students documents in the folder, just be able to save their documents to the drop box folder. Then teachers would have permission to read and change the student documents. What permissions would the folder need for the students to save only. I have tried several combinations of permissions, but have not found a way to do this. This would be on a Windows Server 2003 Standard Server.
