Laugh away, we just had unfiltered internet access. Someone must have pressed the wrong button! working well, working well!
As was said
IMPROVEMENTS TO FILTERING ON LANCASHIRE GRID FOR LEARNING
Improvements, I'd hate to see a step backwards!
I didn't even get the letter, I was just pointed at the lancsngfl web site after I started to ask qustions, after having to get the 3rd web site unblocked. What a state of affairs......a whitelist!
Of course it can be done it's just a matter of cost. We put in a cisco 4400 wireless lan controller last summer supporting 50 AP's ( 36 in use) I do beleve that the lan controllers can be 'bolted togther' to give you as many AP's as you require. Since it went in it has been faultless. Will all the laptops be in use at once? Will all the classrooms be in use at once? Most of the big players kit will hand off connections between AP's to load balance connections between all avalible AP's. Are you expecting all the laptops to connect connect at 54meg? If so you'll need a lot of AP's! The company we used did a free wireless survey for us so we had a relistic idea of how many AP's we'd need to achive a certain throughput. If you want I can give you the name of the company we used? They were great and support us all through the planning any installs.

Marc
Have you looked at AXON http://www.nch.com.au/pbx/index.html. Seems to work quite well and it's free to education. FREE FREE Fantastic. Nice GUI very easy to set up runs on a windows box. VOIP to Skype, link to external voip to pstn etc etc. We run it just as a little internal system, but i've had it running at home with a little FXO adaptor.
OK I've made a test bed server 2003 and a xp prof client. But I get the same outcome GPO fine, mandatory profile fine put the two together and it all goes wrong! I've cleared down the event viewer on the local machine and I get two errors after trying to log on.
The group policy client-side extension folder redirection failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier
and
Unable to apply folder redirect policy, initiaization failed.
I hope chaneg the registry permissions on the user hive before copying the profile to the server. I copy the profile from the local machine using the copy profile from the advanced functions on the local machine. Can you just enlighten me on the user hive bit please.
I'm trying to test mandatory profiles at present we run roaming profiles. I've created a test ou with a test user in it. Created a mandatory profile by copying a local account from a machine etc etc. Point the users profile to the mandatory profile works fine. Add our standard gpo's to the ou and it all goes wrong. None of the GPO settings are applied you get a machine with no restrictions. Remove the mandatory profile from the user and the GPO settings are applied. It's only when you put the two together it all goes wrong. HELP!
Replaced all our old 3Com kit last year with Nortel Kit. Works very well and money wise is very competative. And the management software is pretty funky as well!
