Hi, We have made some changes to our system whereas we no longer map the %homepath% but rather use folder redirection through group policies based on an UNC path. However, since we have removed the %homepath% users can longer access files remotely. Is there a way to modify the unc path within the web.xml file to contain UNc path and a username variable on the end of the path? e.g. \\local.server.\Shared$\%username%. Can't seem to get around this. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Mark

Hi, I am testing network throughput and the file copy transfer between a W2K8 and Windows 7 clients is slow. We are getting around 11MB/s transfer speed. The server infrastructure to backbone is 1GB but the client connects at 100M. Is this speed slow? If so, any advice? I have also disabled autotuning still now luck. Thanks in advance. Mark

Thanks. I think it caused by the fact we demoted the old server first before GPO / User Log On session had a chance to update the path to the new server. If the old server path no longer exists Windows will not update the libraries. This is what we figured. We just updated everyone profile manually. Harsh but lesson learnt. We didn't our changes properly. Cheers, Mark

Hi, In Active Directory when we copy a user account the profile path doesn't update. The path we have is : \\\UserProfile$\\profile Any suggestions? We use Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2. Setting the profile path via GPO is not an option. Thanks in advance. Mark

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has or use some kind of script to check the health of a user login / computer. For instance I would like a script to check that offline files / sync centre is working properly, home drive is mapped properly, AV gets updated, required services are running etc. Does anyone do this kind of thing? Hi, Thanks for reply. The problem is caused by cached looking for the old server UNC path which it is no longer available. Because in GPO under Documents folder redirection the "Move folders...." option is ticked the new path will not update. Looking at creating a C-Name with for the old server then updating this. Hi all, We migrated our file server from Windows 2003 to Windows 8 R2 with a new server server name. We updated permissions and home folders in AD - all good and well. On the clients Windows 7 mapped the drive to the new server which connects no problems but the document library does not. It is still pointing to the old server. We use offline files as all students have laptops that they take home. However, students are saving to the Document folder in which the path is invalid but still caches the files. The Document Library is showing the old server UNC path. GPO doesn't have any settings for this either. Anyone get any suggestions? Thanks in Advance. Mark

Hi all, We just migrated our file servers from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 R2. We dont use DFS or anything but we need to update GPO, User properties in AD to reference the new file server names. What do people do to avoid this in the future? Do you use DFS namespace or do you have another DNS name for each file server rather than using the server name. Thanks in advance. Mark

Hi all, We have a 1 to 1 laptop program that each student have there own laptop they use everyday at school. Teachers would like to be able to connect to student laptops in the classroom to ensure students are doing school work etc etc. Can someone recommend software software that teachers can select a pre-populated class list with student names & laptops?
