I've been playing around with shares on the windows 2003 DC. Basically I wanted to hide the TeacherData share that contains all the Staff's profiles. To do this I renamed the share TeacherData$, therefore hiding the share. I knew it wouldn't be an issue because folder redirection isn't setup (although it once was) Now, I've checked and double (triple) checked that I don't have folder redirection set up for staff. i.e a staff member's profile is not set to redirect for either my docs, app data, start menu, etc. I've checked GPs also to see if there is a GP setup to redirect staff folders; but nothing. So the problem came when I had a member of staff come upto me with her desktop missing, no access to My Documents, etc. It was as if her profile was been redirected to TeacherData (which it was) despite there been no obvious redirects setup. I've changed TeacherData$ back to TeacherData and it has of course solved the issue, but it's doing my nut as to where the redirect is setup! What the hell am I missing??

Changed 'Onboard SATA Mode' in bios from RAID to Native IDE as suggested. There was also the option of AHCI in there. Works a treat. Why it defaults to RAID I'm not sure, maybe it thinks it's a server ) It just so happens that I finished uninstalling all the prebundled redundant ACER software in record breaking time so won't be fully flexing your solution until a later date! I don't think it will ever be as stable as a fresh install of unbloated XP but I'll ride with this for now. Thanks again for your help.

It's a very minor issue, I agree. I will use this approach as 9/10 times it will work okay. But at the same time it appears a simple issue to address and the small things can make a big difference.

I'm looking at it from my users point of view. I place the link as suggested on our school website and then the user goes to login. Should they click cancel then they're redirected to the '401 Authorization Required' screen instead of the diologue box just disappearing. This would then require them to press their browser's back button to get to the page they were on before.

I guess both links are a step in the right direction. Still the links are not ideal because canceling the Moople login screen takes the user to a '401 Authorization Required' screen, I'd prefer it just to close the dialogue box. Moople still sucks for me . . .

I want to avoid installing windows with the disks that came supplied with a Acer Veriton M670G as the OS comes pre-bloated (to the extent where it takes a couple of minutes to compose itself upon entering windows! ;o) I have an XP SP3 disk but when I boot from this not long after the initial loading of drivers I get a blue screen which says I need to check the HD. I've tried another HD and another Windows boot disk, still no joy, so I'm assuming that windows needs some additional drivers to see the HD before I can carry on with the install. Any ideas?

I've tried the link today and it doesn't work for our members of staff. I've tried 2 sets of credentials but neither work. Just keep getting the error message 'Error: This account is not an administrator, please log in to an administrator account' As suggested, I'm using the link: https://www.google.com/a/edukirklees.net Any ideas?

I try and include all the links a staff member will need on the school website, that way they only have to remember the school's web address. I've never known anybody forget this (yet)

Maybe you should publicise the link, at least until you get the Moople website sorted out? https://www.google.com/a/edukirklees.net Having to close the browser to log back into email again isn't acceptable for any users - geek or non-geek. People work within their browser nowadays and the last thing they want to do is close down their browser unnecessarily. How about getting http://moople.net/ sorted so it works? Another thing that would save me valuable support time and instill confidence in your portal. 'dedicated in-school support for specific periods of time'. So you're treading on the toes of other ICT technicians, competing beside them. I guess you guys have a slight upper hand already given that you encourage everyone to login through the portal that advertises your services? How about spreading some monopolised love and adding a link to my school support services?

Well I thought time might be a healer on this one . . . What get's me is that every staff member in every school in Kirklees has to login to their new email via a duff looking website, full of content nobody cares about, riddled with primitive bugs. One thing I did manage to extract from the website was the amount of staff required to produce this great pile of garbage. Unfortunately I'm unable to visit the 'meet the team' section again due to a bug that prevents me from going back to the home page! How primitive can you get? Wait, I can do one better . . . these guys haven't even configured their DNS settings for moople.net so only Moople works!!! And every member of staff is expected to login through this site?? How primitive can you get? Let me know if I'm missing something guys . . .

Nice name. I guess I'm confusing myself here. Using a GP setup for screensaver with password is adequate. My only thought is applying that so that it only affects the 'Administrator' and not other staff members/children. Thanks.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is possible but I'd like to create a GPO to have only the Domain Admin auto logoff after a set period of inactivity. The GP should not effect other domain users (teachers/children). Anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Steve
