I got this fixed today. Downloaded fresh drivers from Dell and added a restart in Application Bundle. Success!

I can't seem to figure out how to get Dell's Widi utility to work with MDT 2013 enviroment. Our test unit is a Latitude 3340. I have extracted the driver pack to MDT and it is installing the following applications: Bluetooth Application, Intel Rapid Storage, and Widi Utility. Through some troubleshooting I discovered that the WIDI utility fails to install because it is missing some components. To fix this, I manually installed the wireless drivers and then the widi utility which works. I was under the impression that the dell driver pack would have all the drivers I needed. Is this not the case? The wireless components appeared in the device manager just fine before I did the manual installation. Has anyone ever run into this? Thank you for your assistance.

Ok so on a whim - I added option 66 and 67. Magically the laptop with the Broadcom card works now. I then checked my virtual machine and a laptop with intel nic- no go. It wanted me to hit F12 again (which the Broadcom didn't) and when I do, I received- File:\boot\bcd, Error Code 0x00000F. This is getting weird

I checked on this first thing this morning. Each Vlan has two ip helper addresses. One for DHCP/DNS, and the other for WDS/MDT.

Last week I installed and configured WDS on our MDT server to push images. I thought everything was working correctly as I was able to PXE boot various virtual machines and another laptop. Well today I tried to pxe boot a Optiplex 580 and a Latitude E5500. Both of these have broadcom nics in them. I recieved the dreaded PXE-E53: No boot filename received. I fired up my working virtual machine and checked it, worked right away. I tried with another box that had an intel nic and it worked as well. My Setup: DHCP Server, WDS/MDT Server both on the same vlan but different virtual servers. My clients are all on a seperate vlans. I double checked to make sure that the helper address was added to the client vlans, which it is. I did not do option 66 or 67 on the DHCP server. I updated the bios on both the failing clients and still no luck. Any ideas as to why intel works and broadcom isn't? Am I missing a driver somewhere? Thank you for any help.

Thank you to those that replied. I am currently checking out eduroam and looking into Radius/PKI infrastructure. I did get a quote from Ruckus but it was significantly higher than other solutions. PKI doesn't look super difficult, just time consuming and following step by step with some good tutorials. Those are good points BlueFlag about Meraki support and pricing. We had a couple of 4400 series controllers that were upgraded to 5508 controllers a year ago (long story there). So I am pretty confident that the 5508 should be able to handle 11n.

Hi All, We are currently behind the times in our small school district when it comes to our wifi infrastructure. We finally have secured some funding to upgrade. We currently are using Cisco, with wireless G access points and are moving to N. I have received competitive quotes from Cisco and Meraki. Both quotes balance out to be about the same money because we already own the controllers. For installation with Cisco, all we have to do is swap out the access points. With Meraki we would be starting basically from scratch, which is no big deal as this would be deployed this summer. Does anyone recommend one over the other from a performance standpoint and management? Here is my next question, right now we have been using WPA2-PSK and it has become totally unmanageable now with mobile devices, Staff BYOD and smarter students I realize we have to move to something like WPA2-Enterprise. I have started to review the requirements as we do not currently have a PKI infrastructure or Radius server. I am a total newbie to PKI, as we use third party certs for our email and web based applications. I am looking into PEAP, EAP-TLS, MsChapv2 etc.. Can anyone make a recommendation to which one we should be using. Ideally we would like to have 2 SSID's - One (Corp) network (district owned devices, laptops, IPads) and One Guest Network (Guests and Staff owned devices). Right now we don't allow students to bring in there devices just yet, this may change in the future as we've added internet bandwidth. So how could we prevent students from putting in there usernames/passwords and getting access using there own devices, is this something I can do with NPS? Thanks for your help Pseu, I spoke with our Tech Coordinator about this issue. What were going to do is make everyone on the lab computers use the Z:\ (There home folder) drive and no folder redirection. On the teachers computers we will use a loopback and have the "my documents" redirected. Generally they don't ever experience the delay since we setup there computers and there login is already cached. I think this is the best Win-Win for everyone. The login speeds are something we drastically miss from our netware days. Thanks again for your time and help

Hi All, School is now out and its time for me to catch up on some projects I have been putting off. Our domain is currently in 2003 mode, but for the most part is running on a 2008 r2 servers (still need to upgrade one more dc). Right now I am working on speeding up our login times for windows 7 clients. Heres the times: Non-cached logins take approximately 1:10 seconds Cached logins: 6.5 seconds Times were measured with the goofy blackberry stopwatch I decided to move both a domain user and win 7 computer to a test OU that does not contain any group policies. We currently run about 10-12 different policies depending upon ou. I started adding them one by one and the login speed never increased past 7.5 seconds...untill I added our "my documents redirection" policy. Once the policy was added it increased the login time by a full minute. So now to my question: does anyone know any steps I can take to further diagnose this? Heres what I have done: 1. Removed all policies except the my document redirection policy, thought maybe there was a conflict somewhere with another policy -still 1 minute increase 2. Tried creating a new policy and instead of using "users home directory", I tried a unc path. - still 1 minute increase 3. Applied a hotfix listed in Windows 7 Gotcha's - still 1 minute increase I'm still sorting through the group policy logs in windows 7 but am not seeing any errors. At this location the network is running 1gb switches. We create the home folders for users using ADUC. The DCs and file servers at this location are running Windows 2008 R2.
