  1. Hi there, Did you select a proxy for the auto proxy pac config to use under web proxy >> automatic configuration? At the bottom of the page, you can choose which proxy port you want the proxy.pac to point to, Regards,
  2. Hey there, Do you have a simple network diagram/flow of data that would show where and how you want to do it? The proposed design, Regards,
  3. Hi there, The best thing to do would be to implement HTTPS decrypt and inspect so you can content filter your images from Google - so you can still use it, but not see undesirable content. If you have been provided with the Smoothwall by your LA, I'm curious as to what SSL Cert you require from them? If its the Guardian MiTM CA for SSL decrypt and inspect, you should be able to export it yourself? Regards,
  4. Sounds like a regex would be the best bet here, possibly a URL pattern. You could make an appropriate one using the regex builders online https://regex101.com/ I don't claim to be an expert on regular expressions, but something like: (IllegalMusicPiracySite) 1st Capturing group (IllegalMusicPiracySite) IllegalMusicPiracySite matches the characters IllegalMusicPiracySite literally (case sensitive) Regards,
  5. Hi there, Make sure you set up a zone bridging rule between the SSL VPN network zone and the internal interface zones you want the users to access (networking >> filtering >> zone bridging) The Smoothwall should have routes in its networking >> routing >> subnets so that it knows how to get to network subnets it doesn't have a direct link to and these should then get passed on to your VPN clients, Just make sure that the traffic can route back Regards,
  6. Hi there, I did some research on this the other night for a customer. I turned out I had to whitelist the category "web search" and then, log off of the Chromebook device I was testing from and then log back on again. I've not heard back to hear otherwise that it didn't work, though obviously from a filtering POV, whitelisting "web search" as a whole really doesn't seem like a good thing. To me, it's a case of what is the bigger concern: - Being able to say "ok Google" and speak in your search, or filtering web searches for inappropriate content. I'd go with filtering over speaking my searches. Regards,
  7. Hi there, Providing you have fully working reverse DNS, try browsing to the advanced web proxy settings in your GUI (web proxy >> web proxy >> settings >> advanced) and switch on the "enabling client hostname logging" option. Then, save and restart and see if this helps. It'll definitely put the information in the raw log files, not sure off the top of my head if it shows in the GUI though! The settings off by default as it requires solid DNS and this can't always be guaranteed and if this is not the case, browsing will get VERY slow....
  8. Very glad to hear! I've passed on the good feedback!
  9. We've passed on the message! Thank You for the feedback!
  10. As the Service Delivery Manager, I am responsible for the support function at Smoothwall. I do apologise for the apparent decline in response times you are noticing and can assure you that not only are we working very, very hard to reduce the backlog of support cases that we have but that we are also actively recruiting to increase the size of our support team dramatically. As I can see very clearly that you all have outstanding support cases and are disappointed with the responses you have received (or in some cases the lack of), I am happy for you to contact me directly on [email protected] and I will re-prioritise your cases and ensure that they are dealt with promptly. Your business is very important to us and I genuinely don't wish for you to feel that you have been ignored so please, despite the fact that my inbox may be bombarded, contact me and let me know any outstanding cases that you have logged with us. I do take pride in the comments that the quality of our support team is up there with the best, we will never sacrifice that quality but I can commit to you that we will improve the speed of our service. Assuring you all of my total commitment. Michael Marks Service Delivery Manager Smoothwall
