Turns out that I don't need to update the firmware. Had to add the driver which I had thought I already did. It is working now.

I'm new the *nix community and so far loving it, seriously. I am using "Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx" and found that apparently my wireless card isn't natively supported by Ubuntu but during system testing it was able to find what it is - "Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG [Calexico2] Network Connection (rev 05)". From what I can tell by searching, through intel cooperation there is firmware made for this card, which I downloaded the latest version "ipw2200-fw-3.1" and extracted it but that is where I'm stuck. I can't seem to get the firmware to install and can't seem to find directions anywhere that will work for my particular setup. I also have the driver but through searching have found that the firmware needs to be installed first.

I am working on a Gateway 3310. I looked but didn't see anything wrong, specifically no disfigured capacitors. I unplugged and/or removed all devices or pieces of equipment plugged into the MB. Still the computer wont turn on. Now, onto the second problem. I plugged the HDD from the non working computer into my computer and it wouldn't boot, I couldn't even enter the bios to double check and make sure that the settings were correct to boot from the HDD. I plugged it into a USB external encloser and the HDD showed up correctly on my computer and I was able to explore the HDD like a regular working HDD. Bad MBR?

Thank You for replying so quickly. That unfortunately did but didn't help. The connection that I entered the wrong key for was not there but I did see the other wireless networks that the user had previously connected to there so I know it should have shown there but for some reason beyond me the connection that I needed to show there did not show there. I was able to get the user connected to another one of our wireless ap's but that one does not have as good a signal but will work for the mean time.

I accidentally entered the wrong network key when trying to connect to a network and I can't find how to clear and reenter it. Obviously I don't know Vista.
