Has anyone been able to import a video from Facebook into Powerpoint. It looks like it should be dead easy but I just can't get it working. Tried using the embed code but Powerpoint can't use it for some reason. I have seen screenshots where people are clicking on import video and Facebook is an option but I cant find how you set that up. Using Office Professional Plus 2016 also tried Powerpoint in 365 and that doesn't play either. Any Ideas? Cheers

Hello, anyone out there use Spiceworks? The powers that be have given out our tech support email address and we are now being boarded with people emailing us they then receive an auto reply from Spiceworks that says thi > > A new helpdesk account has been made for you with this email address. In > > order to use the helpdesk portal, you'll need to confirm your account by > > setting a password. You can do so using the link below: and then gives them a link which the users try to click on>it doesn't work and then they log another ticket saying they can't use the link. I'm sure it should be dead easy to turn this off but does anyone know where? We just allow the students to email the helpdesk but this auto reply is causing us some grief so it would be nice to turn it off. Thanks

Does anyone know of a utility that might alter the settings on a laptop webcam? The laptop is Stone model running Windows 10 (camera app is disabled) but the basic driver doesn't come with any option to change things like the brightness or saturation so it's really over exposed and hard to view the person on the other end. Cheers

Hi, Not sure if this is in totally the right forum so if anyone wants to me move it feel free. I wanted to ask fellow IT in education types: how do you handle you IT induction? As in getting a new user base to login, access resources like the VLE, Pro Monitor etc. In the past for our new students were allocated to a IT classroom with usually a teacher and technician to support them in the first two days of term. Then the students were asked to login, click on promonitor, set up their college email etc. We as IT found this useful because it meant students knew how to login. Any problems with login details etc were spotted early and after the first week of term everyone had logged in successfully and been told the do's and don't of the system...... Last September this was changed so the students had to wait until their tutorial before they received their login details and an introduction to the system usually just with 1 member of staff. We also stayed in an LRC for an hour a day as a mop up session but this was poorly attended. We then started to see students who had never logged on, or had been struggling with issues. Do you get students at your organisation to login en masse? Do you have them watching a presentation or video? Would be interested to hear what others do. Thanks

its more than possible im not applying it in the correct place ill create some tests OU in OD and see if I can get anything going. Thanks for your time

In the past I have always been told to make any changes to the computer group in OD. I haven't had any training on OD so I just go along with that. could try making a new group and making the changes to this one specific user The issue occurs for this user on any mac he logs into so I was thinking it was some kind of corrupt settings in his Mac Profile but that was just a thought

More annoyances with Macbooks. I wonder if someone can help I have 2 MacBook's in the same room both running the same image both 10.8.5. Both are connected to Active Directory and Open Directory I have been asked to configure the dock so that the users have a few default apps but can then add or remove items I did this by doing Open Directory>computer group>Dock>manage>set to once. It seems to be OK for one user but the other user just gets chrome and finder when ever he logs in. I have done refresh preference, deleted the library folder from his windows my docs which fixes lots of issues for us usually. but I cant seem to get the dock to appear correctly for one this one user - any ideas what I can try? thanks

Hi, Really annoying problem I am having. We have just had some work done on our data server so its path has now been changed. We have made the necessary changes and all seems fine except for one machine which I have come across today. It was reported as behaving oddly but when I visited I noticed its trying to create a connection to our old server. This happens as the end user and when I log in with my domain admin logon. So I look in system preferences and find there is a login item related to the old server but for the life of me I cant find how to get rid off it. I cant just use "-" sign as it tells me its managed by an administrator (even when im logged in as domain admin or local admin) and I cant find where I set a login item in workgroup manager. Its an 10.8.2 MacBook. Any ideas how I get rid of this item? Thanks

Hi, One of our Mac users (osx10.8.5) wants to be able to customise his own dock and I cant seem to find away to do this. I have set the default icons I want to appear on the dock via work group manager and that's fine but he would like to be able to add and remove his own at will. This is fine with me as this is his machine and only he is going to use it. Is there away I can do this via the Mac server? I can allow his local account to modify the dock by opening parental controls and ticking the relevant option but this doesn't seem to be available on the mac server for his network account I don't know if I am looking in the right place. Thanks for any advice

Hi Folks, Got loads of these in work and people want to use the camera but cant use the built in windows 8 app across log-ins. It works with a local account but not a domain student or staff one for example Does anyone use any 3rd party software to get round this? so people can take pics and record videos? I can use vlc but its clunky and longwinded any other suggestions - I thought microsofts LifeCam might be a good place to start but it doesn't load up on the tablet. Any ideas? thanks

Need some advice on this - wasnt sure where it was best posted: When our students are assessed by our ALS department they are often given a specific colourd background that helps them read text. So for some students its Yellow others Green etc. On our windows platform we can then make a change to the users profile so that when they login to a PC applications like MSWord automatically load up with the correct colour background and text combination. Has anyone done anything similar with a Mac? Ideally we only want the change to effect the relevant student but we are not sure how to do this. Or maybe a free utility that would allow them to do something simelar? Thanks

when you say type of wireless network what do you mean? - sorry if thats a dense question. Its campus wide and provided by a load of hp pro curve kit and uses wpa security
-
Bit of an odd one this but I really have no idea where to start with it: We have some little white Asus EPC's that we let students use and the students are allowed to connect it to the wireless network when they come into college - we change the security key fairly regularly and of course the students can't connect. One member of staff as asked if its possible for the EPC's to prompt the user to enter the relevant key every time they login? Is this possible? As far as I can tell the EPC's run their own OS when I check the software version it = Eee PC 1.1xxx and I don't really have any idea where to look cheers

This seems to be causing no end of problems for people around the net but not sure if anyone is having the same problems we are. When people log in they have their name which they can double click and if they wished they can save documents here.... working in education where the kids will just save anywhere they can this isn't ideal because is if they log off then those documents go west. Is there a way of pointing the documents folder to the users network based documents folder??? Cheers

Ah brill thanks for that. Our latest board is an SBD6600 i think and we were told by a guy from the smartboard people that it was advisable to turn panning off because it moves the board rather than individual items so you cant resize objects for example Our software needs admin rights to update our students and teachers do use very limited profiles so thats probably an explanation. I have heard of problems with orientation but havent seen it with my own eyes yet...

Hi, I have a bit of a problem with windows 7 and smartboards and im wondering if someone might be able to help. I have been told that to enable the smartboards to work correctly under windows 7 i need to disable the single finger panning option. This is fine when i log in with admin permissions but it seems to reset it self when i login with one our student accounts and of course students cant see the control panel to disable single finger panning. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks
