Hi all, I've looked around on the forum and found some useful things but the information is a little old and I was hoping for some more up-to-date info. I've been asked to fix the Music Classrooms issue of latency and poor use of the programmes so let me spec what we have. We use: Avid Keystudio Keyboards with the Protools SE software which comes with the hardware. We're running some older non-branded machines which run Windows 7 and 2GB of RAM on a workgroup due to SE not able to save to a network share. We also use Sibellius 7. The teacher has been complaining about latency issues. I'm absolutely useless when it comes to the technology in music. I'm pretty sure if I was to tell the school a set up which would work, they'd go for it and spend the money. My questions are: Is SE any good or should I really be upgrading to Protools 11? Does Protools 11 allow students to save their work to network shares? What can I do to stop the latency or do I just add a soundcard because sound is all onaboard at the moment? If that's what I need to do, what sort of spec? If someone could answer those questions to start with, i'd be forever grateful. Many thanks, Jack

Hi all, I've been having an issue where the recipient of an email shows as the sender when the email enters their outlook. - Via the webmail, the senders show perfectly. It's not the computer because i've logged on elsewhere and the same issue occurs. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi all, Hopefully you can help me. It's a network issue that I just can't seem to figure out. I'll try and get all the information down that I can - just to note. I am running this machine from home at the moment. The machine is a Panasonic AjaxC30 using an Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapater and a SiS191 Ethernet Controller. I can connect to the wireless and I get the "connected to Internet" symbol in the bottom right hand side of the screen but have no internet at all. I can ping the default gateway, DNS is configured from the router which is the same IP address as the default gateway. DHCP is enabled. I have removed any Anti-Virus/Firewalls that might be stopping a connection temporarily. I can tracert to Google successfully. I can even ping Google and I do get replies. Internet is working wirelessly for the machine that I am on at the moment. The machine name definitely isn't on use in my home network already. I've tried installing Firefox and still nothing. I have uninstalled and re-installed the wireless adapter. OH and it's doing this with the wired connection too! The machine is running Microsoft Vista SP1 by the looks of things. Any ideas? Using the BurFlags registry key to reinitialize File Replication Service replica sets I followed that when I didn't have the sysvol shares and NETLOGON. Seemed to help me! Best of luck with it

Hi all, My issue is the following; When my users log onto the school network they have no issues with loading their profiles and user configurations. Then when they shut their machines down to go home to work on the laptops at home they have been reporting logon times of 45+ minutes. They've reported that turning the wireless off can help with this issue and seems to load quicker. I have logged on with the laptop at school and logged off, taken the network cable out of the machine and turned the wireless off. I then logged on and it worked instantly. I turned the wireless on, and again, it worked instantly. I shut the machine down thinking I had sorted the issue but turned it back on and tried logging on with no network cable plugged in and the wireless turned off - it took about 30 minutes before I got fed up and turned the machine off. Does anyone have any ideas what the cause of this may be? Thanks Jack
