  1. Very constructive comment!, you could say I work in sales as I have to go out and get business and work with lots of schools and professional organisations and proving my value is important - hence the question. I continually see people wasting tax payers money by trying to reinvent the wheel that doesn't need reinventing and one of those is dealing with and finding suppliers and the bureaucracy involved with the procurement system in place for the public sector. If you are willing to pay a million pounds then I rest my case )
  2. Interesting posts, how much emphasise do you place on finding better suppliers that provide more value? The problem is finding the time and dealing with all of the sales patter involved but maybe there is a better way.... How much would you pay to save thousands of pounds per year and to make your life easier?
  3. The Toshiba's are highly reliable and a good fit for education, with the warrant and money back guarantee it is great value and I have worked with lots of schools that have used them.
  4. Prevention is better than cure, but with budget cuts that creates the challenge. Audits are more common place now and someone will come knocking eventually so it’s running the risk at your own peril if you do not do something. It’s not advisable to bury your heads in the sand and do make sure the SLT are aware of the current situation. As mentioned by someone earlier Software Licensing is a black art and certainly just knowing what licenses are installed will still not be enough, you need to show the paper trail, Invoice, EULA and demonstrate its installed on the right machine to fully reconcile the information to stave off an audit.
  5. I think from my perspective if you like spending lots of time (so depends on how long) doing something like asset tagging and recording data in a manual way then its actually the best method. The argument really is how much time you can save doing it using a mobile app for exaample (but yes it costs money) and how much better and more cost effective your time would be spent freeing up time to do something more useful and interesting!
  6. lol 4 posts and only mentioned Parago 3 times... Have you had a look?
  7. seems a lot of the same questions get posted in a different ways, obviously there are number of products etc which you pay for but again the most widely used one we work with is Parago
  8. Hope your sorted but Parago Mobile will meet the requirement you have said
  9. agree with domino it doesnt always accurately report back the correct data from the network so can be flaky
  10. lots of schools use Parago its worth a look
