  1. found them now - IT: Just Done - IT Consultancy for SME & Education Chesterfield (01246) 386116 seem to be targeting derbyshire
  2. In the process of moving hosting, and while we are at it, thinking of overhauling the website.... Want to move from our current Joomla based one (St Luke's CofE Primary School), to something bit simpler. I have been thinking just move to a Wordpress site, but has anyone every used a Wiki as a main school website, what I am thinking here is that they are very easy to edit, and given the nature of a Wiki, may even encourage more staff to contribute. Anyway what are peoples experiences?
  3. Anyone heard of a company called IT Done Right, based out of Chesterfield? They are coming to speak to a bunch of schools in our area (Glossop) about broadband, following the EMBC announcement. Wondering if anyone else has dealt with them
  4. Cheers for that Steve Would be interested to find out what are really 'legal' requirements and what are just reccomended. Looking at teth NEN documents, it's more like a set of reccomended specs. I guess functional requirements vary depending on the school,
  5. So a thread I have an interest in, am a Governor of a small primary school in Glossop, Derbyshire. I am yet to see articulated a set of requirements for Primary School broadband provision Does it need to meet a minimum SLA? Does it need to have filtering (is this a legal requirement) Does it need to have a minimum bandwidth level Does it need to provide web hosting Does it need to have links to Janet? I think once we have set of clear functional and non-functional requirements, the selection is the easy bit....
  6. i would be very keen if embc want some help let me know, i offer good rates ;-) currently leading the creation of a linux platform standard in one of the uk's big banks.
  7. I didn't think the FTP protocol didn't have the abilty to change permissions as its just a File Transfer Protocol. You will have to logon to the plesk control panel and change permissions with the file manager component on that. It's not the greatest interface and quite long winded to change permissions, but it does its job.
  8. What do people generally use for calender or upcoming events functionality?
  9. Anyone here from a Glossop School? Hello!!! I am a Governor at St Lukes
  10. OK I have had a search and can't seem to find questions for a couple of simple ones. How do I change the Edugeek logo in the top left to my own one? How do I apply Joomla! security patches, is it a matter of uploading the new source over the top of the current site? Making sure the configuration.php is not overwritten!
  11. Quick update for everyone Managed to get it working! Placed a call with helpdesk and they did something and I started getting PHP error messages moaning about missing files instead of generic server ones. So I uploaded a fresh install of the joomla package to a new directory and it worked! Happy now, just need to get it bashed into shape.
  12. It's the standard EMBC web hosting package, so has PHP, MySQL though not sure if the web server is IIS or Apache. I have tested the Joomla code myself on my own web host (LAMP) and know that it works. I will probably use that as dev environment anyway. Though I want to host the pre-prod environment on the EMBC space to make it mirror production, then promote the changes to production once I am happy with them. Thats if I can get it working on the EMBC hosting environment in the first place!
  13. So it's hosted on Synetrix's servers, some sort of windows hosted platform, probably IIS, though could be Apache or something else... BTW, uploaded the same Joomla Package to my own server, which is Apache2 on Linux with MySQL. Worked fine. Did the change you mentioned, getting same result.
  14. Doesn't give much away I am afraid Anyway here it is
  15. All Trying to get a test Joomla installation going on my webspace. I have dropped the files on the website and put them in a subdirectory of the httpdocs folder Pointing at the new URL am getting an 'Internal Server Error' looking at the server log files doesn't yeild anything usefull. Anyone got a clue what this could be? If this was linux I would just do a tail -f /var/log/apache2/default.log
