Dont think it's a virus thoroughly scanned it! not sure about a dodgy batch either we have had the laptop for about 2 years and the replacement was put in about a month ago?? confused!!

Ok Guys this is a tough one. About 2 months ago i started getting the "operating system not found" message when trying to boot a laptop. So with the unit being under warranty i had the Hard drive replaced. It worked great for about 2 weeks then got the same message again. So callend in service guys again this time they replaced the Motherboard and tested the Hard drive just in case. It was fine for about 2 weeks again, then yet again the message started coming up again, i have since given the user another laptop from our stores at the school and taken it upon myslef to work out the cause of this intermittent error from hell. I cannot for the life of me work out what is wrong. If anyone has any ideas please share them with me! Cheers

As i thought "localzuk" nice to have someone back up my thoughts will go back to the powers that be and advise again.

The laptops are used at home therefore they argue it's for personal use!

Hey everyone, Long time no message!!! I could do with a little advice. I am trying to find a way either with group policy or Some sort of registry hack to make sure if a user installs iTunes on thier laptop that the default place for the library is set somewhere other than My Music! We have tried to educate the users but it seems to go in one ear and out of the other. Also have noticed for those who i have manually changed the library destination that when they update iTunes it reverts to My Music???!??!!?!?!? Can anyone suggest anything because our file server is full of iTunes because we sync all of the My Documents folder for obvious reasons. HELP?

We have been using it for quite a while does the trick. I'd be happy to speak to anyone about it you know pro's and cons and so on!

New Problems! MPT Tray 1 Jam issues it prints maybe 5 or 6 sheets then Jams but there is no Jam the paper hasn't even fed in yet???? HELP ME!

will take a look at some point. did you find easier or more difficult to setup??

Thanks for your reply but i seem to be getting it sorted now. I decided to use SNMP to help me get the bits i needed. I can now see the activity on a network interface for a windows xp machine just struggling with a server 2003 one now!!

Installed Ubuntu 9.10 and the installations went without a hitch, nagios with check_mk and all the trimmings working great. Would like a little assistance though if anyone has any experience, It would be most appreciated.

Ok i found the problem. It was "wget" it has it's own proxy commands in it's config, once i had altered these it worked fine.

i suppose what i need is an alternative for the script to replace the "wget" command to ask it to look in a local directory instead. any ideas??

No nothing. I am behind a proxy but can go to the same address in firefox and download the tarball????? will try again see if i can get anymore info for you.

Hey Everyone!! Long time no type. I'm trying in vain to get nagios and several plugin's to work. I found check_mk with it's full install of everything i need to go onto the ubuntu 10.04 i have installed and got started. Problem is when it's installing it uses a shell script (which i have no experience with) it's trying to go to a site to download and install RRDTool but the connection is being refused. I have managed to go to the same URL and download the tarball but dont know the first thing about altering the shell script to get it to look on a local drive instead of online. Can anyone help!!! Please??

It seems insurance for anything is a little ridiculous at the moment a collegue of mine has just been quoted for home and contents insurance it's same as his current buildings only insurance???????????? How the hell does that work???
