We used to use Moodle as a kind of hybrid website and VLE, but have since moved the web content off to Joomla. We do however display the Joomla news as an RSS feed in our Moodle page . . .. We have used Impero for the last couple of years and are delighted with it. As previously posted it does sometimes go through 'development phases' but these are always short, infact the developers are top rate. We have had positive dialogue with them several times in terms of new feature requests as well as bug fixes. One of its major strengths is the fact that it offers much more than punative / restrictive functionality - as well as the support tools, like mimicing one PC it also allows for things like quick 'straw polls' in the classroom, or having one student broadcast (EG demonstrate) as skill or a solution to all other workstations in a lab. Hope I'm not gibbering as I'm a little rushed due to running off for a meeting . .

Inside the systems tools group is the entry for Internet Explorer (No addons). Our content filtering is based around an addon for IE and as such if students launch the no addons version they can avoid some of our content filtering. Their access is still through grid for learning filtered servers but the loss of fine control is a real problem. Is there anyway of preventing student access to starting IE (No addons). My techs suggest that this is not merely a shortcut .LNK file and is auto generated at each login. . . I would really value any help regarding howto prevent students accessing IE(No Addons) Thanks in advance.

We fixed the problem by using an M$ utility called MSIZAP. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370523.aspx Turned out that there were some Contribute temporary install files left in the image we used on our curriculum workstations. MSIZAP of the contribute product code seemed to fix our issues. Hope this is of use.
