Thanks for the clarity re: iPlayer and 4OD t&cs. I feel that I want to let our school community know but shouldn't because the iPlayer and 4OD content remains inaccessible.

This change in the ERA licence will be potentially massive for schools. But this change has come about with no provision for schools to obtain DRM-free copies of the programmes from iPlayer and 4OD - am I right?

Don't have audacity open but you need to save your work as a compressed project file. This option is available from one of the menus and came in with 1.3.x We were equally frustrated with audacity's bloated saves and were about to drop using it until we found this feature.

Hi, Hopefully someone can help. My site shifts several pixels to the right when selecting certain top menu items. I'm pretty sure it's something I've tweaked in the css (this site has had much tweaking) but where to start I do not know. I'm not getting obvious clues from Firebug. The site in devlopment is here: Welcome to SMRT And the offending menu items, if I can call them that, are Whats' Happening and Faith. Thanks all.

May have fixed it. I added position: relative and z-index: 80 to .containerheader in the template.css and now the article (with the video) sits behind the dropdown menu.

Ok, so looking a bit further into this it might have something to do with z-indexing. The topmenu has a z-index of 100 in the template.css which means it should always remain on top unless further down the page another element has a z-index of 100 too. The video appears in the welcome page article. If I'm on the right track with this I'm wondering where I find the z-index of front page articles?

Hi, I've got a bad case of disappearing top menu (mainmenu). Occasionaly when selected the dropdown hides behind the picture slideshow, but that's easily remedied with an F5. However it always goes behind a video window (I'm using AllVideo's jwplayer) and it won't revert to correctly displaying on F5. See screenshot. I've looked around the AllVideo extension documentation to no avail. Anyone know a fix? Is there a way in CSS or HTML to say to the topmenu 'always on top' or 'bring to the front' perhaps?

Thanks, think I've sorted it. The centre column (.columntengah) also has a width setting in the file called collapse.css. Edited the width there and bingo.

I've tried out the changes in the the first link and that's useful in moving the topmenu down a bit within the same template area, but I need to position the topmenu directly underneath the logo as was achieved by sarchs above, which to me hints at another template area perhaps?? Second link didn't work.

I would really like to know how this is done too i.e I would like the top menu to appear between the logo and the slideshow. Sarchs I see you achieved it on your site. Could I ask how? Thanks

With the ClickView system and an ERA+ licence you can make use of an Exchange website where schools with 24/7 digital capturing boxes upload their free-to-air tv recordings. With a couple of clicks one can download titles from the Exchange and upload to the school's library for permanent storage. It's a wonderfully effective system.

Thanks Gibbo, I thought that might be the case. It's a strange situation when I have to put a shout out for a home recording of a film that's been on TV when I have the DVD to hand. Does anyone have to know the number of minutes you can show that is deemed as 'fair use' in schools.

Joe at ClickView is an extremely helpful bloke. They are definitely worth considering if you are looking at a video streaming solution.

I would like to know the answer to this as well. For instance with an ERA license is it OK to rip a commercial DVD in school for streaming if I KNOW the the title has been broadcast on free to air TV? Seems to be a bit of grey area. In Australia things are a bit clearer with regards to this and schools are covered as long as they adhere to a few basic rules, including keeping the original copy on site, only ripping titles that will be used in the future, rather than maybe used. Can't post a link on my first post but google 'Format Shifting education' for more info on the Australian setup. On a related point, the practice of persuing, and paying for individual licenses from publishers for streamed content just seems to be an unfeasible model for schools to undertake.
