ok people back to the topic heres what we have and what ive been offered check the attachment Specs.doc

you see what it is, the dells at the moment are getting hammered, partly because there is alot of software on them and teachers have a habit of comin in the morning and opening all the programs for the day, this is the kind of norm which i cant stop them from doing(they call it being organised). also we need more pcs anyway thanks to the re shuffle of the building and alot of pcs being put to the sword for endless issues, hence the dells are to be moved and grouped at the back , and 30 odd to purchased to power the whiteboards. we want performance and reliability and i just dont think the 2 processors offered will match what we have running currently

were moving things around, the dell are going to the back, we want new better machines for the front on the whiteboards, am i right to say you think the dell's are better?

hi we in the process of tendering new pc's, at the moment we are powering whiteboards with dell optiplex 755 which have intel core 2 duo E8400 @ 3.00 processors in them. we've been offered either Atom 330 @ 1.6 (2 gig of ram) or Amd Athlon 64 X2 dual core 4400.(4 gig of ram). do you think im still being picky if i say we wanna stick with intel core 2 duo or will the choices offered to us b better. let me know your thoughts or experiences with these processors, any bit of feedback will be greatly appreciated. thanking you in advance

i vaguely remember using vnc along time ago, but i also remmebr that when i had to set it up , i had to go to each machine , install it and also allow access to the windows firewall ports. i will give italc a try and see how it runs, i have about 300 machines, i install alot of the software through msi's form AD but on some of the older sherston stuff it requires a local copy install so the disc doesnt have to be inserted, i wouldve done all the machiens on a perfect ghost but that would be pointless for year groups not in use of the software

hey ppl i was just wondering if anybody out there in education is using logmein free in a controlling mode for the classrooms or is there anything maybe better or simpler then it. the reasin i ask is, because we're having a new pa system installed, and i want to giv teachers the options of ringing my office to say my whiteboard has died and i need you now. rather me having to trek half my life across the school, is there a program that let me log in to her pc and help her out???

its all well for alot of people to say they are decent or they are a good budget price, but the thing is , how does it stack up against an intel. those of you who have used it, how would personally rate it against an intel chipset and processor between 1 to 10. i have always stuck with intel processors and think that this triple core could be something different that will work and be more reliable or i could burn my fingers. lol

hey ive got a question today which i basically need some advice on. we've been qouted to get about 50 new pcs at the end of this month and ive been offered a processor which i dont have any knowledge about it is a AMD ATHLON 11 X3 425 TRIPPLE CORE. is there anybody on here who is currently using this processor or knows anybody using it on a day to day basis. just wanna know really if you'd recommend it or should i play safe and stick with core2duo. thanks in advance
