In my computer lap I'm using netop. Some of the computers are not working properly with the software. I got the IP address from the station thats not working. I ping that IP address from the teachers station and it returns a different host name(I used "ping -a target address"). When I go to other computers in the lab and trying pinging that computer everything works fine. This teacher station can ping all the other computers in the classroom and everything returns back the correct values. It's just that one computer. Any ideas? These are HP desktop computers running windows 7. They're in a computer lab that has an internet connect. Netop is a desktop monitoring software as you may already know. Netop works by using the computer names, therefore, the computer name resolving to wrong IP address is no good. The server thats in the room is also set up as a DNS server.

They are not in any deny groups.

Actually in the shared permissions it shows the authenticated users with full control. In the security permissions they have write and in the NTFS permissions they have list folder, create files/write data, create folders/append data, write attributes and write extended attributes permissions.

They have both of the permissions you have mentioned. It will give them that error message, but then when I tired to save it again it ask do I want to replace the file and if i click yes it says access denied contact your administrator.

I have a network with windows 7 machines that connect to a windows server 2008 domain. When the users try to save files to their dropbox(this is a shared folder on the server) folder they get an error message that says "you don't have permission to modify this network location". The odd thing is the files actually save to that location, but when I log in to my administrator account and try to view the files in the that folder, the files are all listed but when I open them the files are empty. Any ideas?

Thats where I placed the bat file. Its in the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup"

The funny thing is that it works fine when I log in as administrator. Just get that message when i log in as a user. Any help?

I've looked throught the other threads but most of them were for the domain environment, and im trying to install it on a workstattion so I can include it in my image. I have the bginfo.exe and a bginfo.bat file in a folder called bginfo in the C:\.... I have a copy of that bginfo.bat file in the startup folder. The script in the bat file is...c:\bginfo\bginfo.exe /timer:0 Everytime I log on as a user says "cannot find the configuration file c:\bginfo\bginfo.bgi file". Says do I want to create it, I click yes and says "error loading c:\bginfo\bginfo.bgi file". Do I need to create this file or can i run this program without that file?

I think you've misunderstood the question. I know how to set up a printer in a computer through the server. I'm trying to setup up a printer that will be moved around daily to different locations of a six floor building. This printer is traveling with a laptop cart , which has sixteen laptops in the cart. We will like the laptops to be able to print to this printer. Hope I explained it a little bit better.

I have mobile laptop carts that I roll around to different classrooms throughout the building. The building has six floors. I want to hook up a wireless printer to these carts. How would I go about doing this? I figure that I would have to give the printer a static address. Right? What I'm worried about is when the laptop carts go to a different floor and pull a different IP address, will it still print?

UIU is very costly. I can't recommend the way I got it on this forum(If you can read between the lines). Its all over the internet.

You can use UIU(Universal Imaging utility). With this you make an image with all the software you want. UIU will install the drivers for many hardware components.

Hey Gerry, Im trying your way now since I couldn't get it to work the way I want the other ways. How did you partion you drive since you can't make two partitions on a USB.

I'm not even sending the image across the network. Im restoring locally and it was still really slow. It was saying about an hour. Where as normally when I boot with my PE cd and install from USB, it takes my image 2 mins to restore.

Thanks guys...Your right the letter didn't make it difference, but the imaging process was really slow.

Hey fellas, I got it to work. The only problem Im having now is that my USB drive is being seen as the C: drive when im using ghost. How can I fix this?

Some of my clients don't support PXE booting, thats why i haven't gone that route yet.

Yes it comes with Ghost Boot Wizard, but that wizard doesnt make your USB bootable( I don't believe). Im just trying to format my USB external hardrive with the windows 98 system files and im getting an error saying the volume is too big. Then after that Im going to put the ghost files on it.

Thats strange cause I'm using a 100GB seagate external harddrive. Im using the Hp format tool, it starts formating then I get an error message the "volume is too big".

When I format the USB drive, what file system should I use?Also, is there a limit to the size of the USB drive?

Im trying to boot directly to ghost from my USB device so that i can install images without using and CD or floppy. I've been searching the internet for information on this topic and the things I've found have not been very clear. Any information on this would be helpful.
