I will happily stand corrected, I do understand that people have affiliates to their sites. I mainly use the google sevice however and was pointing out that it can be flawed and needs careful checking if you are running a family friendly site. Cheers Mr B

I put some of the Google adsense text adverts on my site. This type of advertising is 'context sensitive' suggesting that the text ads (or banner ads if you wish) that are displayed on your site will be related to the topic of the page itself..... When I first put the adsense stuff on , I got numerous adult dating and afro caribean dating site adverts. I immediately panicked, logged into my google account and blocked all of the sites etc. On searching through my meta tags and content, I could find no reference to anything that may have caused this. Sometimes it seems, google just gets it wrong... Do give IT Idiots the benefit of the doubt regarding their adverts, it may not be their choice, just a case of blocking inappropriate ads under a competetive ad filter... Cheers N

Just another approach. If a kid that I am teaching does the old 'sir - I've forgotten my password' routine, the first time I change it to 'password' so that they can then change it to a more secure version. The second time of asking I change it to 'czechoslovakia'..... It is amazing how few pupils forget their passwords these days... Cheers NB

Hmmm - Flash games.... I use games as a reward - but only very occasionally. We are fortunate to have a slightly different set up I think. We have a body of flash games (my site) on the intranet and our chief techie has written a rather sweet piece of software which allows us to unblock access to this section when we need it. We use lan view to spot the miscreants and keep them off games when we don't want them using them. I'm afraid that keeping the blocking list up to date is just as big a job at our place as it is everywhere else. regarding the swf extensions - we are currently doing an amination project with a large number of the pupils in school so the blocking of files containing the swf extension is a non starter. As I assume you are trying to queue jump and get his attention quicker *runs* Yep - I missed the correct forum - but hello anyway. As for our IT guys - I'm fairly sure that they use this forum and if they want to own up to knowing me - thats up to them , however if I want to get in touch with them, its skype, msn, email or even phone. I can only comment on the efficiency of my own sat nav which comprises Tom tom installed on my mda and the GPS via a holox bluetooth receiver. I have found this to be devastatingly efficient. The only times it doesn't work is when you are in a tunnel. Weather has no effect on it to date and you can bet your bottom dollar that when and if the gov come up with a tracker scheme, it will be a lot better than my set up. I have heard on the news today however that the government are talking about scrapping the whole idea due to the pressure of public opinion - vote loser more like. Agree entirely with previous comments on this forum about the de-privatisation of public transportation systems. Heavily subsidise them, make them more available and people will use them. 2nd post to this forum - same topic.... AND - have you heard about 'global dimming'!!!! Talk about a no win situation. Apparently the amount of garbage and steam and gasses and guff that we are pumping in to the atmosphere is cutting down on the amount of the suns rays that are getting through. The upshot of this is that when we all go green and stop producing pollutant greenhouse gasses, we all fry as the temperature soars!!! So it would seem that in its own way China might just be doing us all a favour.... Cheers Neil

My first post to this forum but this subject really rattles my cage. the £200 tracker device proposal is yet another attempt by the government to sqeeze the motorist. They get you all ways - you pay duty on petrol and then VAT on that - is that taxing a tax??? Its all very well them saying that we need to use public transport, but its all been privatised for years and is all about making money not providing a service. You live out in the sticks and you are dead in the water unless you are able to wait for your one bus a day..... I know that the planet is dying and that we all need to get greener in a hurry, but just slapping on yet more back door charges in some half assed attempt to push people without much money off the roads is taking the mick a bit isn' t it? Provide us with a realistic alternative before you push the cost beyond people's pockets. Yet another blunt instrument short term fix. Politicians - wouldn't pay 'em in washers.... Cheers Neil
