  1. Its The Gmetrix software used for the Microsoft academy, its not that the software wont work, its more a case of not allowing users access to C. We tried a few things ie power users, running virtual machines etc but none of things worked hence why we went with dual boot. Ive edited the boot.ini file so now when the machine boots it comes up with 'Academy' and 'School Work' so that should avoid some confusion, is it possible to automate the NewSID software? As I've got to apply this image to about 130 workstations. Thanks Phil
  2. Hi guys Weve recently purchased some software which we can't run on our computers as it wants the users to access the C drive. After batting a few ideas around we decided to dual boot the system with a clean build of XP on another partition on the HDD. To image the workstations we decided to go with acronis true image, the only issue with this is that when it reboots it only changes the SID on the 1st partition, does anyone know a way of setting acronis to change the SID on both partitions? Or does the SID being changed on one of the partitions automatically apply to the other? Any help would be much appreciated as I have the Head of ICT in the school breathing down my neck on this one Thanks Phil
  3. I had the same issue not so long ago After trying pretty much every option possible i ended up using a hirens boot cd, booted into mini xp and copied the data across to a portable hdd, then just completely imaged the system.
  4. Nope the client machines have all been upgraded to the latest version too. Everything is running as it was before, weve even tried rolling bak to an earlier version of the software we had archived but edexcel won't allow users to downgrade, you have to use their latest updates. Thanks Phil
  5. Hi all I was wondering if anyone was experiencing the same problems we are with the Edexcel testing software? We have recently updated the software to the latest version but now when a pupil user clicks on the shortcut to the programe it brings up an error stating that 'the data path is invalid'. After logging on as an admin i found the data path to be correct as i can run the software as admin user. Our pupil users are added to a power users group on the server to run the tests and so have all the correct rights, I have spoken to Cat Global customer support who advised me to change a permission on the ESM file in the registry but I am still recieving the same error. If anyone has had the same issue an knows of any fixes/work arounds i would be most greatful. Thanks Phil
