  1. Well I guess you will think that way, you've got no reason to believe me but I seriously don't have the money to spend keeping it running and the time, plus my education means a lot to me.
  2. Just looked it ends tomorrow, the sites down anyway that saves me a quite a few pounds per month.
  3. Me again lol...to be fair I had the proxy on there months ago, before I set up examstudies and just forgot about it. I'm just waiting for my hosting period to be over before pulling the plug on the site (examstudies) and selling the domain name. It's sometime this week I think. Took some advice and would rather help the admins than "go against them".
  4. Thanks. Friez, could you please edit out my personal websites on the top of page 5 as I do not want this shown. Thanks again
  5. I find it quit unreal that some of you guys seem to be spending your time digging up personal information upon and posting photos of me trying to make me out as a bad person. I presume the photo was of the ID because this yes would make it even more easier to make me to look bad. Secondly, i'll take the proxies down; no not because I feel I'm being pressured or bullied or doing anything wrong, but I can't be bothered with someone trying to pinpoint something on me and wrecking my career. It will be a loss to me considering I've paid upfront for hosting etc, i'll have to sort through tons of e-mails asking as to why I've took them down. As for the Google ads, do a search find another proxy and check if they have ads, my guess would be yes, i've seen other proxy sites with them as the site does not promote illegal activity, as I've said proxies are legal and people are free to use them (maybe not at your institution, but they are legal for use.) Kickarse is not an alto ego, have GrumbleDook do an IP if need be. I asked for insight from another forum and he was good enough to try and take off some of the pressure from me. Do I not have the right to defend myself? I found a site mocking me and the use of my site as if everyone who uses them are up to no good. I did indeed edit them out because at the time of writing I was pretty frustrated at the thread, but when re-reading did not want it to seem if I was indeed bragging. You don't even know, please don't assume that you do. Just because I have a site that you disagree with does not make me immature. As I said proxies will go, hope this provided you with a bit of fun for a while.
  6. But by the college confirming that I do indeed attend there than that maybe. Like I said anyway I'm not bothered by it, it was just something a friend mentioned. Hopefully this all blows over now.
  7. There is a password on the site, which has been passed around. If I recall correctly from my studies; I believe my college and the complainte maybe in breach of the Data Protection Act; one for the later asking if I attend the college and the former, for my college confirming this. Although I'm not going to take that any further I just wanted to point it out. I have already set up a blacklist of sites which I don't want people going on so porn shouldn't be able to be accessed (lol the irony). To me it does, if you read some of the comments in the thread, for e.g people laughing and mocking at the fact they though my site had been taken down. I'm just going to leave this all now as my college have let me off with a formal warning, and don't want it going any further. Thanks for all your input and advice tho, it's all been taken on board
  8. Ok alot of replies, you are all assuming that the sole use of my site is to commit illegal offenses, which it's not; online communities is all that is accessed. Through proxies, ActiveX can not be installed, also I assume you block downloads based on extension (exe, mp3 etc) so really there isn't a way for malicious things to get onto a computer. Like I said there are thousands of other open proxies out there, why not complain to each of them instead of seeing to just be bullying me. If you don't like it then please block it, I can't control if your students go on it.
  9. Ok so I am now facing explosion from college (and even police action) due to the person who made a complaint. I don't see how this can be justified considering that it is MY personal website which I made home and isn't aimed at any college in particular. I don't use it at college or any other proxy. My University placement is now at jeopardy. Why couldn't you have talked to me first about it? They way I think of it is, and it over the top I know, if a student goes onto a pornography website, does the college then have the right to complain to the owner of the porn site and say "Hey, look I don't like your site, take it down or facing the consequences". This seems completely unfair. I completely respect what you admins do, and my site isn't there to annoy you and defeat what your doing. I saw a similar site (allaboutabe.com, another to block if you havn't already) and ran with the idea as I heard alot of people thought it was great and just jumped on the bandwagon. There are thousands of proxy sites out there, and what I'm doing is not illegal at all, I just offer a free service to who ever may want to use it. Migdet: Thank's I already know about the SSHing to a VPS tunnel technique, but don't see the need to use it as like I said I'm at college to learn. Friez: The blame will be soley upon the user, if it is their intention to do something illegal then they should face the blame. I monitor my logs regularly and nothing like that happens, but if it were IP's are logged and they would be reported. To be fair, the only sites that are accessed are myspace, bebo and ebay really.
  10. I agree, all I'd like to do is just check my e-mails once in a while and when I'm on lunch break be able to use the computers and just chat with friends on MSN and read up on digg (which is blocked for some reason). I admit, I don't play games, use myspace etc I go to college for my education but there are a few people who spend alot of the time doing unproductive things, but if they are adamant not to do their work, they'd still be searching, and find, a way to be able to be able to do what they want (play games etc) which is going to take up much more of their time. The stats for my sites are mainly all from the USA, which is weird. Examstudies.com are as follows: On the other sites I have a massive amount of hits from UAE and China, which I presume is because of the Gvt. national internet censorship. I have read the college's misuse policy and although it isn't very detailed they don't mention anything about bypassing, filters etc. but in a worse case scenario if I am kicked out I already have a placement at University. Of course it's your jobs to block sites etc to protect the networks and that but you need to see things from the student's point of view as well, which my techies don't seem to do.
  11. Well the other sites I use, I havn't heard of being blocked, well yet at least. Trying to work with it? How do you mean. Admittedly I only made the site(s) for me and a few mates, but it took off. I now typically receive 15k hits per month on all the sites combined. Well whether they got blocked or not won't impact me so much, I enjoy working on them, make a profit from the adsense, and it's going to be impossible to have it blocked at every institution. Yes, the shoutbox at times does get "dull" but it's just a way for people to chat I suppose.
  12. I (the owner) didn't post it. Complaints? That error has nothing to do with any complaints, the server has been overloaded with visitors so I'm upgrading to a new server.
