  1. Most of our projectors have the freeze feature so the teacher can display the lesson objectives on the projector and then use the freeze feature so they can carry on with other task while the objectives are still displayed. Some of our projectors only have a blank features, does anyone know if there is any software that can be used that will enable you to display something on screen say a powerpoint slide that remains on screen while the user can carry on with other task that the pupils don't see? Thanks.
  2. All faulty projectors have been replaced. Did have one though that was playing up when trying to connect to the video, will be testing this again tomorrow.
  3. Will have a look into your suggestions, cheers!
  4. This may seem like an odd request but does anyone know of a way I can set a powerpoint presentation to be displayed at a set time each day. The reason for this is that we have a television connected to a computer that shows a powerpoint presentation throughout the day in the canteen. I have been asked if a presentation can be shown an hour before lunch and during lunch displaying the menu for the day and then afterwards to go back to the normal presentation. So basically I would want to set up a time so let’s say presentation1 is displayed until 12pm and then presentation2 (which shows the lunch menu) displays from 12pm until 2pm. Any ideas (as the current solution is to switch the presentation each day which isn’t ideal.) Thanks
  5. Thanks, I'm currently in the process of sorting out with Dell replacements for the faulty projectors, hopefully the replacements are fault free.

  7. Has anyone got a DELL 2400MP projector and if so have you had any problems with it. I have a few that are playing up and DELL have replaced them and they still play up! Basically they either take 10 minutes to come on, display the LAMP warning light - meaning the bulb needs replacing, which it doesn't, to fix you just unplug and once powered back up it works fine for a while and the other issue is, it sometimes doesn't find the source, say a video is connected it takes about 20 presses of the source button until it finally displays the video.
  8. You stated to try chkdsk /f this only didn't work because the c was missing. Thanks for your help!
  9. Problem solved! I used chkdsk c /f in command prompt and this sorted the problem, can now access the documents as vista boots fine, it's time to back up all the documents!
  10. I have the W7 beta ready to install, hoping to set this up on a spare PC tomorrow and check out the features!
  11. I have the Ubuntu boot disk ready to read the contents of the hard drive, how do I do this though?
  12. Yes I have run full diagnostics and no failures were returned. I'm puzzled. No the laptop has been working fine, just came to boot it up the other day and it ran startup repair. I'll see if I can copy the contents of the hard drive and then restore the laptop and see what happens, thanks for your help.
  13. I tried repairing the bootmanager and it didn't appear to work
  14. Ok will try that, thanks
  15. No, it states it's unable to repair. I have just run chkdsk and it states that windows has checked the file system and found no problems. No, haven’t uninstalled any OS, haven’t made any system changes recently.

  17. I have a Dell laptop running Vista and when its attempts to boot to windows it runs startup repair and then displays the following message: Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically If I select send it just comes back say windows cannot repair this computer automatically If I view the report it says: MissingBootManager I have tried swapping the RAM but this makes no change. I would have just wiped the laptop and installed Vista again but there are documents I don't want to lose. Any ideas?

    Bootmgr corrupt

Thanks! Swapped the memory between the two machines and the fault carried over. Usually memory is one of the things I'd test but it didn't occured to me on this occasion so thanks for the suggestion! Sorted the machine with replacement RAM and everything is working great now!

    Bootmgr corrupt

I have a computer that won't boot to windows. It reaches the windows splash screen but then reboots. I tried to run the XP disc but it won't get past 'setup is starting windows'. If I try and run WDS to deploy it's orginal image to see if that fixes it I get the error 'BOOTMGR image is corrupt'. I put the hard drive in an identical spec computer and it boots to windows fine. The hard drive from the known good computer doesn't work in the machine in question, it does the same as its original hard drive. I'm hoping it's not a problem with the motherboard as it isn't under warranty anymore. Any ideas, Cheers R
