Having close associations with "SLT", may I assure reidquat that there have been no special favours afforded the staff there, the majority are in detriment, and many to a greater extent than you may believe. As for presenting the service with an opportunity to 'take over' schools networks, there is no hidden agenda along those lines. Part of SLT's mission statement is - "to become the ICT service provider of choice . . . ." - the word choice means the School / College has one! Might I say, that in suffering a £7.5k projected salary cut myself, I sympathise with all affected. However, I firmly believe that this initial 'offer' will improve, although any detriment is unacceptable. We must make our voices heard, I'm not convinced individual Managers / Heads will have enough power to resolve these matters locally - ie at a 'per establishment' level.
