Morning, Hope you are all enjoying the start of a new term. We have this summer subscribed to FFT Aspire to use as part of our student target setting process. We have 3 KS4 subjects where data is not available from FFT; Media, Drama and Health. Do you have any advice on a best fit subject to pair the subjects I do not have data for with? Thanks

The easiest way to check which qualifications are discounting, once you have signed in click: Pupils Cohort Performance (it is under the A - Z to select names) & Status (Click this twice) This then gives you the qualifications for students that have not counted and provides the reason why.

We sent back 25 English papers on the C/D borderline with some staying the same and some moving an odd mark up or down but with no grade changes. We sent back 2 English papers on the A/B borderline. Both went up to A's. The first went up 22 UMS points from a 239 (1 off an A) to 261 (9 off an A*). A cynical individual may suggest that no C/D borderline scripts will change grades, under instruction, as the national average has already been set and any additional C's will move the pass rate past what has been decided. Our Controlled Assessment also got marked down for being outside of the tolerance which was halved by the exam board after submission. This is currently being re-moderated as two years ago we were too harsh, last year in line and this year we were allegedly "too generous". The downgrade moved 20 of students from a C overall to a D, but within 10 marks of a C. It's not a good time to have a cohort with the majority of the ability range sitting around the C/D borderline.

My understanding would be yes, the result would follow to the new school and would not be counted against the old school if he was no longer on their roll.

We are currently working on our curriculum model for our Year 9's ahead of Options in February/March. Based on what I have read I want to make sure I have a 'clear' understanding of what the headline figures will be for this year group. Currently the government look at: 5A*-C including English and Maths 3LOP in English 3LOP in Maths For our current Year 9's what will we be reported in the Performance Tables for the Class of 2016? My understanding is: Progress 8 Attainment 8 % A*-C in English and Maths % A*-C in 5 Ebacc subjects Our current suggested options for Year 9 are: 1&2 (Core) English Language & English Literature 3 (Core) Maths 4&5 (Core) Double Science (Top sets x2 Triple Science) 6 (Option) 1 of French, Geography, History or Spanish 7 (Core) RE 8&9 (Options) 2 of Art, Business, Drama, Food, Frenh, Geography, Health, History, ICT, Media, Music, PE, Resistant Materials, Textiles Will Progress 8 be the key measure with the % A*-C in English and Maths and in 5 Ebacc subjects just an informative measure for parents? Am just concerned as I don't want to direct students down the wrong route.

I too have been looking at the best way to pick up these documents upon their realese but I haven't found a way yet. They're not that easy to find on the website so it's easy to miss them. I normally pick them up via twitter conatcts but it would be good to know nothing has been overlooked. Cynics might say make sure we buy a Sunday newspaper but I think/hope that was a one off method in terms of sharing future educational policies.

Hi Simon, We have been through a subject and full inspection in the last year. Generally once the phone call comes in the Data Manager is busy as staff (teachers/SLT) chase last minute information. I normally have an ofsted pack sitting ready with key informtaion. We have a school dashboard of where we are currently at compared with the last 3 years, then have pupil premium breakdown, the story around attendance, pupil progress class trackers etc. In terms of the inspection itself I have had data slots allocated with the inspection team to go through areas they have identified of interest, either prior to their visit or based on what they have seen. During the last full inspection the lead inspector asked the head what the story was regarding for example Year 8 Maths progress, then during our data slot looked to see if I had the same story just looking to clarify if data is being utilised and shared.

As a school we use Go4Schools (formely Stars4Schools) as our data tracking system. Saw this morning that they are going to advertsing for a "Professional Services Development Lead" in January, giving the successful applicant the opportunity to take on a development role with the company. I have been a Data Manager for 5 1/2 years and am yet to find a system that ticks all the boxes for data analysis and would love the opportunity to design a system based around the day to day needs of data managers. Scrap that, they are available in the development section (follow innovate on home screen, select KS4 Pupil Estimates (1 page per pupil) and the reports will list the KS2 results on the left under test) It is easier to extract the data for a whole year group by selecting: Export (from the home page) Pupil Subject Estimates, KS4 - Click >> Select 2017/18 Show: Decimal or sublevel Subject: Choose one subject and export to excel. This gave me our new intakes KS2 test results with sublevels for English and Maths and a full level TA for Science. Hope that makes sense.

I found the KS2 data for our new intake in the development tables on FFT last week. This provided the grades with sublevels so if yours arent there already they may be available soon.
