I would like to appologise if I have upset anyone on the forum as my comments where not intended to cause offense and I was only intending to create a bit of humour and liven things up a bit. I guess I was just letting off a bit of steam as I have been a bit upset recently owing to the fact that my uncle died recently.

The client program needs to be installed yes so that you can interact with it as the administrator.

Try this: http://www.n37dev.com/Products/LanTool/ It allows you to see how long machines have been on for and allows you to shut down remotely and send messages as well as other useful stuff and it's free. The only downside is that you have to install it as a client process on each machine. If you could find a way to deploy it from a server that would really make life easier.

Yeah, why on god's earth why would you want to disable the 3d acceleration for in vista? If you did this you wouldn't be able to appreciate the yummy splendidness of digital visual candy that is Windows Aero! (Which bears no resemblence to that yummy nestle chocolate bar of the same name!) Alternatively though if vista doesnt run that well on a vista laptop you could always remedy this by installing ubuntu on it, but that kind of defeats the object of having a vista laptop really doesnt it?

Hmmm, When you disable the graphics card the 3d acceleratrion doesnt work anymore? oh? really? Hmmm, I wonder what would happen if you disabled the soundcard? Would it still be able to play audio? Hmmm, now let me see! I wonder if it will run any better if I remove the ram as well?
