  1. Whenever changes are made to an excel spreadhseet, the document saves, fully syncs correctly. but then you open the spreadsheet again the next day, those saved changes are gone. the only way to get the saved changes back, is to go to google drive and download the file via file version histrory, then copy and paste the data it back in. i know the solution is "just use google sheets" but im intreiged to know why this happens, and why it only happens sometimes.
  2. went back to version 24, the issue has gone, but another issue has arisen. Sometimes when you use the pen, then use your finger again, you can't select a certain slide on the left hand side without restarting the software.
  3. I've just had a phone class with their support. unfortunatley, they don't have any contact or links with the development team. So they have no idea what the ETA is for the next version to be released. but he did email me this, which may help for now: How to fix the issue if it happens persistently: * Close any running instances of SMART Notebook. * Open Windows Task Manager (type Task Manager on the Windows Start menu search bar), and navigate to the Details tab on the left. * Check to see if there are any running instances of Notebook Chromium Helper.exe . If there are, end these processes. * Open Windows Explorer. On the center path bar, paste: %TEMP%\SMART Technologies\SMART Notebook\TempFiles ** Find a file called CEF and delete it * Restart the computer Prevent the issue from happening by following these tips: * Avoid launching multiple instances of Notebook if possible * After closing Notebook, wait approximately 30 seconds before reopening ** This issue can happen if you open one Notebook window and close it immediately.
  4. tried that, but then it opened chromium (a version of chrome that seems to be intergrated into smart notebook) and downloaded the file anyway
  5. Update: a complete windows reinstall hasn't resolved this issue.
  6. Thats all i've got from them at the moment, it looks like we're waiting for smart 26/27 to be released
  7. Update from smart support: I’m sorry to hear that SMART Notebook is opening a Chromium window when attempting to open a second instance of SMART Notebook. I am happy to assist you with this today. This is currently an issue that we are tracking internally, and we will have a fix for it in the next version of SMART Notebook. However, I know how this impacts your day-to-day. I would like to be able to provide you with a workaround. Some things that have been reported to work for other customers of mine have been changing the default app for opening SMART Notebook files from LaunchNotebook.exe to Notebook.exe, changing the shortcut on the desktop/start menu to Notebook.exe, and removing a lock file in your temp files. Please see the following; Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\SMART Technologies\Education Software\, find the Notebook.exe, right-click it, create a shortcut, and put that shortcut on the desktop for opening SMART Notebook. Open Task Manager, and end any processes for “Notebook Chromium Helper”. Close any Notebook processes in Task Manager, and then navigate to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp\SMART Technologies\SMART Notebook\TempFiles\CEF\ and delete the lockfile located there. Restarting the computer will also provide temporary relief for this issue.
  8. Not the .exe itself or the shortcut to the .exe, they open the program as intended, but opening the files themselves. Will give that a go thanks, anything is better than wasting time reinstalling it.
  9. Smart have responed with this: (copied via my emailm it looks strangei know) This is an issue we have been investigating. While we don't have a hard fix in place yet, I do have a workaround I can suggest. Please follow the instructions below to adjust the file association. Open your Default App settings as per the instructions in<https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fu10065563.ct.sendgrid.net%2fls%2fclick%3fupn%3du001.oQ0YHvV-2BYT62C1Dhflf3uwRqmP6NgVC34RjBJOjIgsYJX6KwpXaFu5iYn7UmxDdiNS3QFbo2b-2BwS8ULjb7COmhTDdQtrOsGeHVkPmCbveY92Bldd8l-2BfQOYcQRxvTEXUJjGXKZxMvrJPSQDGWD4g0vQpAQa14lYUSpEbU6NByPEXVIF17dTSPvCSI-2BPKrfjkGk5kvoajr-2F3R-2Flbh1MBE2ae9DrJiUREEUDu508OjRps-3DG-dW_O87AO16B0lNC09MwK5xy8bq0fx-2Fq-2F7mjvFq0948gWgCuw813lOTKlJFjqt-2BrDis10gi5nVMGxvRWCfeaE1wnd5VmezobuH3MXVWxWcaSjD3Eib76BuuM0Ku2-2BfEtSUSl3TO9W2vCZdUgpvWeXQBENpN86Um-2BuoA-2FYg4ZSyZC-2BHcH9Z-2BbXxQU6BHYLhvBKa12IhwgYAGZyL2cZQ240sf9U4A-2BFUJQYBRqC0vzHGqYGGM-3D&c=E,1,EhHb2swuyKnGPZIf5oj8GwLScwisNYUG9nGAuXmCvTUofMJXjxKrmt8pCdogkWzp3IoGOYtmmk_xtpnZ738TFjqfW8W-vGKK46hYPun0zg,,&typo=1> 4. this<https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fu10065563.ct.sendgrid.net%2fls%2fclick%3fupn%3du001.oQ0YHvV-2BYT62C1Dhflf3uwRqmP6NgVC34RjBJOjIgsYJX6KwpXaFu5iYn7UmxDdiNS3QFbo2b-2BwS8ULjb7COmhTDdQtrOsGeHVkPmCbveY92Bldd8l-2BfQOYcQRxvTEXUJjGXKZxMvrJPSQDGWD4g0vQpAQa14lYUSpEbU6NByPEXVIF17dTSPvCSI-2BPKrfjkGk5kvoajr-2F3R-2Flbh1MBE2ae9DrJiUREEUDu508OjRps-3DG-dW_O87AO16B0lNC09MwK5xy8bq0fx-2Fq-2F7mjvFq0948gWgCuw813lOTKlJFjqt-2BrDis10gi5nVMGxvRWCfeaE1wnd5VmezobuH3MXVWxWcaSjD3Eib76BuuM0Ku2-2BfEtSUSl3TO9W2vCZdUgpvWeXQBENpN86Um-2BuoA-2FYg4ZSyZC-2BHcH9Z-2BbXxQU6BHYLhvBKa12IhwgYAGZyL2cZQ240sf9U4A-2BFUJQYBRqC0vzHGqYGGM-3D&c=E,1,EhHb2swuyKnGPZIf5oj8GwLScwisNYUG9nGAuXmCvTUofMJXjxKrmt8pCdogkWzp3IoGOYtmmk_xtpnZ738TFjqfW8W-vGKK46hYPun0zg,,&typo=1> 5. link<https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fu10065563.ct.sendgrid.net%2fls%2fclick%3fupn%3du001.oQ0YHvV-2BYT62C1Dhflf3uwRqmP6NgVC34RjBJOjIgsYJX6KwpXaFu5iYn7UmxDdiNS3QFbo2b-2BwS8ULjb7COmhTDdQtrOsGeHVkPmCbveY92Bldd8l-2BfQOYcQRxvTEXUJjGXKZxMvrJPSQDGWD4g0vQpAQa14lYUSpEbU6NByPEXVIF17dTSPvCSI-2BPKrfjkGk5kvoajr-2F3R-2Flbh1MBE2ae9DrJiUREEUDu508OjRps-3DG-dW_O87AO16B0lNC09MwK5xy8bq0fx-2Fq-2F7mjvFq0948gWgCuw813lOTKlJFjqt-2BrDis10gi5nVMGxvRWCfeaE1wnd5VmezobuH3MXVWxWcaSjD3Eib76BuuM0Ku2-2BfEtSUSl3TO9W2vCZdUgpvWeXQBENpN86Um-2BuoA-2FYg4ZSyZC-2BHcH9Z-2BbXxQU6BHYLhvBKa12IhwgYAGZyL2cZQ240sf9U4A-2BFUJQYBRqC0vzHGqYGGM-3D&c=E,1,EhHb2swuyKnGPZIf5oj8GwLScwisNYUG9nGAuXmCvTUofMJXjxKrmt8pCdogkWzp3IoGOYtmmk_xtpnZ738TFjqfW8W-vGKK46hYPun0zg,,&typo=1>. 6. 7. 8. This fixes the issue, until the machine restarts, then it reverts to normal (The defaults have saved, so it still says “Notebook.exe” but still opens in chrome, after the machine restarts. Will send them an "environmet dump" tomorrow and wait for an update.
  10. At my workplace, we use Smart notebook for teaching, and google drive to store the .notebook files Smart notebook creates . This seems to cause a strange bug when opening the smart notebook files, whenever i try to open a smart notebook file (both clicking on the file itself, and using File >Open) it will open google chrome and download the notebook file, instead of opening in Smart notebook. The only way i can temporarly fix this, is to uninstall and reinstall smart notebook, then it will open as it should, but as soon as i restart the PC, it reverts back to opening in chrome and downloading again, i've ensured that all smart notebook files have smart notebook as the defualt application. I I've only noticed this issue occur on Windows 11 devices, i dont recall this ever happening on Windows 10. The same thing happens on our other devices, it's the latest version of smart notebook, as well as the latest version of windows 11.. Has anyone expierienced else expirienced this? .
