  1. Upgrade Micro:Bit to latest firmware version, and @ https://makecode.microbit.org/ , it will appear as a serial DAPLink device, allowing direct programming to flash memory rather than having to copy hex file to USB storage drive.
  2. Update the firmware on the micro:bit to the latest version (will require a device, even a personal device that allows the maintenance drive to appear as a storage device), and the upgrade will provide an alternative option of programming the Micro:bit whilst hooked up via USB, displaying as a DAPLink device in the makecode website, so no longer need to copy hex files to the D drive.
