  1. The UF70 Upgrade Program has been extended. This E-mail came about 2 weeks ago (Sept. 24, 2014) The price is $829 and the old UF55 or UF65 serial number is needed. From SMART Technologies Whiteboard Products – SMART Boards for Sale
  2. If this is the XP administrator's password there is a free boot program called "PC Login Now"... boot with the CD, tell it to erase the Admin password (or whatever one it lists) reboot and login under Administrator with no password. I believe it works with Win 7 too.
  3. I finally read a report on Vista and laptops... they just don't match. I upgraded some teacher's personal Vista with 2 Gb and dual core to Win 7 Pro. That poor thing could not get out of it's own mouse's way.. nothing I tried did anything. I then read a report on Vista and laptops. I had a early dual core laptop at home I upgraded to Win 7 as it just crawled all the time and the HD light would always be blinking. BINGO.. Did Win 7 fix it ! I then tried it on this teacher's laptop, again.. it was like night an day. And I did an upgrade.. not a scratch install. Amazing how bad Vista was. I also upgrade my home PC Vista Pro to Win 7, could not believe it was the same machine. I would have not replaced it, had not it been I picked up a AMD x6 MB for dirt cheap.
  4. IE11 has a known problem with Proxy.. revert back to IE10 and don't let the PC update to IE11 cause it will confuse Chrome and FF as well.
  5. I had a UF-55 with the flicker problem. Air compressor.. get it to about 65 PSI (U.S.) and take off the top cover. Don't overspin the side fan (even poke in something to keep it from spinning) and then from every side including the top center down (right by that spinning color wheel). There will be DUST. There are no replacements as they were not made right in the first place. You can get a heavy discounted UF70 for the UF-55 / 65 until Sept. 2014 (U.S at least) There are some brackets from the U.K. or I'm looking at an Epson very short throw at $1100 (US). I have a lot of UF-45 with the mirrors that I have to look at too..
  6. Here in the U.S. I am having the same situation. I have two UF55 projectors loosing pixels... No projector replacements from Smarttech. In the U.K (RA Technology) you can get brackets that fit both the mirror and non-mirror types and use a standard wide angle projector. You can get a highly discounted replacement (until Sept. 2014) for $829 (U.S) from Smarttech with a serial number for a UF55 / 65, but not the older models for some reason. These are extremely different and will require different setups. The long boom arm is gone. These UF70 (similar to the UF75) is suppose to take the same cable you currently have to turn on/off and change inputs. The UF70 uses a curved mirror and very short throw system. The problem is these need to be perfectly aligned with the board. I have two UF 75's in my school that that were installed by an outside company, so I can check how that bracket works. The old UF45 / 55 and 65 could be adjusted slightly in/out if the projector to board distance did not match up exactly. Our older UF45 (with mirrors) were put with with double 3/4" plywood to bring it out from the wall to get close to a vertical match with the brackets that held the Smartboard away from the blackboard. At the time no one had made brackets. Our newer UF55 have a metal mount 3" from the wall. The new replacement UF70 need to be very close to vertical as the light it projected mostly down by the curved mirror. They sell a Chief-WBAP bracket that is 5.6" from the wall and a different bracket to go over a blackboard. If the smartboard and projector are mounted directly on a flat wall, you would not have a problem. The blackboard presents the alignment problem. So somehow I have to get 2.5" more added to my current 3" metal bracket. I'm thinking some strips of wood and screws that go thought the metal bracket. I am getting five UF70's and when they arrive and start to set them up I will respond and provide photos on my web site. I hope Smattech changes their mind and allows UF45 serial number to be used for these discounted replacements.
  7. When you upgrade your software (Vista).. I didn't expect to have to upgrade my external hardware too. This was just a driver update for the SC101. Netgear tells you to delete the driver and restart in order to update to the new driver. I don't have $300+ for a proper NAS.
  8. I have a Netgear SC101, never update that drive on a Vista without that boot disk. You have to remove the SC101 driver first then reboot, when you do, you mess up the boot drive (blue screen). Put in the Vista DVD and it fixed it. Don't remember if I did update that drive or just left it alone.
