  1. I am in my 3rd week of a new job as a one team IT guy at a small charter school. I just took responsibility of the charging station that the school uses for loaners. A teacher took control since they have been without an IT for over a month. They have been using pen and paper. Students write thier name next to the laptop ID number are expected to turn in by end of day. However, the teacher had been too busy to keep up, so we have several missing. Plus a couple where broken and they all are really dirty. I need to come up with a procedure. Do I clean or do students? I should check daily for damage on any chromebooks lent out Id think. And is there a better to keep track of who is loaning what? Any advice would be welcome. These loaners are meant for just the day and students are not supposed to take them home.
  2. lol, I'm sorry. I did share in sysadmin and I think I reformated it better there. I am not able to post in k12 sub. even though they approved me. My posts get auto-removed
  3. I started a new job two weeks ago at a small public school. I am a one man team. The inventory management is uncordinated. They have G-Admin, AssistTiger, and Google Sheets.None are really up to date. The only accurate acount of who loaned what Chromebook is a physical binder.AssistTiger does not have an up to date list of students and staff/teachersG-Admin obviously does have every student and staff/teacher since that is what everyone usesG-Sheet is kind of wild tbh and not up to date.I brought up the inventory management to someone at the school and they scoughed becuase they just use excell/G-sheets. I really dont think that is the best way to do inventory management right??We do have tags on the Chromebooks which make is easy to scan into a spreadsheet, but managing who has what chromebook, which are unasigned, and which need repairs or are getting repaired seems a bit much to keep all on a G-sheet?I am still navigating my way around AssistTiger. I would have to find a way to import all Students and Teachers/Staff. Then I would need to go through asigning it to the correct person or unasigned/repair needed category.I know G-admin allows you to asign chromebooks to students.Should I try to get both G-admin and AssistTiger all up to date?Should I focus on one?Should I consider G-sheets?Bonus question is anyone wants to help me find this out.If we have 404 students and have 101 assigned Chromebooks,How many extra chromebooks should be aim to keep on hand?I have maybe about 50 in good shape Chromebooks and 30 that need repaired. They are on warrenty, but we still get charged to repair, I am trying to figure out how much I should get repaired. Really I am not sure how to figure out the number of Chromebooks we need to have on hand.Any advice is welcome. Thank you!
  4. Hey! Thank you. I should reach out and open a ticket. The the point you raised about something potentially blocking the webpage. They are able to open the webpage on thier own devices. I know the network is segmented into different vlans. i.e. staff and student. When I get back to work Tuesday, I will check to see which network the iPads are connected to. Edit: to update I did do a search on Zscaler and everything looks approved. I'll have to reach out to securly.
  5. Hey all, I am a new IT coordinator at a smaller charter public school. some of the Teachers use iPads for Securly Pass. I've been playing around with mosyle to figure it out. What I have found is if I select to push Securly Pass, E-Hallpass installs instead. When I use E-Hallpass it basically leads me to https://pass.securly.com/ but the safari webpage is blank. If I go to safari and try to open the website is comes up blank. One Teacher had an iPad that had Securly Pass on it and after signing in with correct credentials it would give error and not go past sign in screen. I am at a lost of why. So far I havent had any luck with Securly Pass and pushing it from Mosyle. I am not sure if this is the correct Forum for this. Any idea?
