  1. Rufus is ace! Dog2Work days should be weekly! I brought my dog into work over the weekend, she loved it, and I probably got more work done!
  2. Missed the first few videos as I was away, but just watched the first one and laughed my head off at the size of my ticket! Love it! Make sure its that size for the PS4 draw
  3. Its ok - I have created 50 edugeek usernames and got 50 jobs in different schools, so I reckon it's in the bag. Oh and I'm also Col's wedding photographer and chauffer just in case. I really wanna play GTA5
  4. Well that's my weekend sorted, clearing some space for a PS4
  5. Thanks both for the answers. I agree it must be a huge undertaking for MS to shift all these accounts around, and as we're only on the A2 subscription we can hardly go demanding upgrades. I can appreciate its hard to give definite dates for things too due to the numbers and that they don't want to compromise the service by moving too quickly. I think I was just a little disappointed having used W15 for a couple of weeks and been totally amazed by it, to then not get that version for my main tenancy. Good to know I'm not hunting around for an upgrade option anywhere though, and I'll wait with anticipation for the upgrade!
  6. Anyone know if it is possible to request to be upgraded to the latest Office 365? Just upgraded from Live@edu and had been testing AD FS and DirSync in the latest version and really liked the latest version, so was a little disappointed to have stayed on the pre-upgrade version. We're planning a launch of Office 365's new features after half-term and the latest version really works very nicely!
  7. So you wouldnt recommend them to run a VM environment on? Do you mind me asking what you have for your main storage?
  8. Interesting you should mention the p4500 as that is one of the options for the new SAN. They have 10GBase-CX4 nics as an option I think? Do you happen to know what the part number is for the module for the 5406zl? I did try the HP site but the link take sme to printer cartridges... Id be interested in whether you recommend the p4500s? I'm guessing so as you have 6 of them!
  9. I think I had always thought of keeping the VM Backbone separate to my core backbone for better performance, however the 5406zl has nearly 4 times the switching capacity of my current 5308xl so it should be well within its capacity. I am also looking to replace the 5308xl and start down the road of getting 10Gb to my edge switches too, so this could work out more cost effective.
  10. Hi I'm looking to replace my VM Backbone switch, wanting to take advantage of 10GbE. Wondered what people were using? Want to put 10Gb cards in my VM hosts and SAN and get rid of the 4Gb LACP trunks I'm currently using. Cheers!
  11. Hi Strange one here. Uploading an excel 2007/2010 (xlsx) file through the extended version appears to be slightly corrupting the file. Opening an uploaded xlsx file gives the following message: Excel found unreadable content in '.../xlsx'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you trurst the souce of this workbook, clik Yes. It manages to then successfully open the file, and there doesn't appear to be any data lost, however you do then get the following message: Excel completed file level validation and repair. Some parts of this workbook may have been repaired or discarded. I've checked the MIME types on the IIS 7 server that is hosting it, and they look fine. Have also tried it with a word document and it did the same. Interestingly though it doesn't affect excel or word 2003 files. Also, the basic version handles xlsx and docx files fine, which suggests IIS is probably fine. Anyone else seen a similar thing?
  12. Ah! went back through the setup of the app pool in v6 and se the Identity to NetworkService and we're all up and running! Noticed the timetable page - is this work in progress or is there a report def available to populate it?
  13. Hi Nick Unfortunately that gives me a pop up with Bad Request when I enter the password (that's with HAP as the root directory and as a sub directory)
  14. Hi! Looking forward to getting v7 up and running (and like the look of the new metro style for v7.5) Unfortunately I'm having a bit of a problem getting it up and running. On first glance it looks to be a similar issue with bindings however I'm either missing something really obvious, or somethign else is going on... If I set up with just https binding I get the following error pop up when I enter the user password for the AD connection: SYstem.ServiceModel.ServiceActivationException. In my application event log I also get the message: The exception message is: Could not find a base address that matches scheme http for the endpoint with binding WebHttpBinding. Registered base address schemes are [https].. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Could not find a base address that matches scheme http for the endpoint with binding WebHttpBinding. Registered base address schemes are [https]. If I add in the http binding then I just get a pop up saying Internal Server Error when entering the password. I have tried adding the site in as a new website and also as a virtual path in an existing website (which was how I got HAP 6 to work). I have also tried removing: from the web.config but doing so sets me Bad Request when I enter the password. I'm pretty sure I've followed the video and the documentation correctly, but I'm obviously missing something. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  15. Thanks very much! That's great, fixed the photo and the tab issue!
  16. Hi Hoping for a little help. Have installed HAP+ and appears to be working well, but not sure how to get the photos working. Have created the report.xml in the appdata folder but as I'm a non-RM network I don't know what attribute it is looking at in AD for the user's UPN. We already store their UPN in the description, but I'm guessing RM modify the schema and store it elsewhere? I found that no icon was showing up until I edited the path in default.aspx to point to ~/images/icons/imageres18.png Also, the tabs don't appear to be working for me, I just get everything on a separate line. Any ideas? Fantastic bit of work, a very simple way for users to remotely access their files
  17. Hi Just wondered what route people had found most effective for purchasing their sql 2008 license? We've got ms schools agreement, or can outright on the server + cals route or the per processor route. I'm going to virtualise our sims server so figured it might be an opportune moment to have sql 2008 waiting on the new server rather than upgrade then p2v convert it. Being a bit new to vmware, if I only give the virtual server 1 processor, will it 'stunt' it's performance in any way? i'm just thinking this is cheaper to license! Cheers!
  18. Thanks everyone for your support, we really appreciate it! We're still a bit off charting as things stand so it's big final push time! We really hope it charts as it will increase awareness massively for the charity (which is the least funded charity of all of the cancers) Thanks again and keep spread the word as you can
  19. Yeh it's a bit annoying that, we've been asking everyone to go through the checkout again to buy another copy! You can actually buy 3 before the charts company will smell a rat! @every - thanks, we really appreciate it, everything you can do help is really appreciated!
  20. Sorry, forgot to mention the facebook page Anmelden | Facebook Our group has near 6000 in so we created a page so we can message people (damn facebook limits!!)
  21. Hi everyone Sorry this is slightly off topic, but I'm hoping being a fellow educator you all might be able to help. This week we are releasing a song into the charts recorded by our Staff and Students in memory of one of our students, Ellie Othick-Bowmaker who we sadly lost on Valentine's Day this year to two brain tumours. During her three year battle with the brain tumours she raised over £25,000 for charity. Her mum, Heather Othick is carrying on Ellie's work under Ellie's Fund. We want to try and get our song into the charts as a fitting tribute to Ellie, and to help raise funds and awareness of childhood brain tumours (the most underfunded of the cancer charities). I was wondering if anyone would be able and willing to email their staff and/or students asking them to watch out music video on youtube YouTube - Somewhere Over The Rainbow / Wonderful World - Scalby School Staff & Students and if they felt moved by the video to purchase our song on Amazon or iTunes for just 79p (every single penny goes to Ellie's Fund). The link to amazon is: Somewhere Over The Rainbow / Wonderful World: Scalby School Staff & Students: Amazon.co.uk: MP3 Downloads We have posters, desktop wallpapers and all sorts of other things available if anyone is able to help us? We're currently 18 in amazon's charts so it's promising but alot more work to do yet! If you are able to help and need any more infor please email me at [email protected] or message me on here. Maybe if you have staff/student email you could send the link out? Or put a few posters up around the school? Or we've found the video really useful in tutor time to give the students something to reflect on. Many thanks!!
  22. Hi Hoping someone out there with a 7110 can help me out. I want to add directory accounts to the users to allow our AD accounts to login to the management interface. I have configured the LDAP service and checking the logs, if I change the password so it is incorrect I see a log entry saying authentication has failed, so I'm assuming it is able to authenticate successfully when the password is correct. WHen I try to create a new directory user it says no entry can be found in any directory. I have tried changing the base DN - originally I was quite specific to just look through the Admin OU but I have also set it at the root of the directory and set the search scope to subtree (recursive). The message about not being able to find an entry for the user comes up suspiciously fast, and I cannot find a way to inspect anything at a deeper level to see what's going wrong. ANy suggestions? Thanks!
  23. Thanks mounters, that site was excellent help (even if it was owned by the very same company who have the print contract with us!). The kyocera we already have actually works out really well on cost per print, so I've ordered another of them.
  24. Unfortunately our current chiefs wouldn't go for a contract of any sort, though we are due a new head soon, and our monster contract is due to run out in about a year so there are possibilities in the future. At the moment we are moving to kyocera for our mono printers for rooms that dont have the managed printers in. They are proving pretty good cost per copy, and have a duty cycle of 100,000. I don't like having too many colour printers as people still print mono on them, at a much higher cost per copy rate. The trouble is, in this case the head of department is willing to pay for the printer out of his own funds so the finance manager is more than happy to go along with it. HCC2 - could I ask which model you purchased?
  25. I did work out for our 2600ns that is was around 13p which is pretty good, but unfortunately they really dont sit well in classrooms - they're fine for an office where people aren't constantly disconnecting and reconnecting the printer. Our managed service is incredibly expensive - a previous finance manager set it up and the costs are ridiculous. I have a friend who works at a different print company who has looked a the contracts and can't beleive how badly we are being shafted. So because of that our new finance manager is very against adding to our managed service, and wants to let it die out! SO at the moment we're left in a difficult position of not really having a stock colour printer. The kyocera is nice, but the toner seems incredibly expensive. We have print management software so I'll try and work out how much it actually costs.
