  1. No I never did. I may just have the pupils go through ISA and leave staff to go direct to E2BN.
  2. I have been using it for sometime and it works well. I use it, for example, to hide staff only folders from pupils on our common shared folder we have. I also use it on our common desktop folders to assign shortcuts to users.
  3. Thanks for the info but there still does not appear to be a way to point a specific group of users to a specific web chain rule.
  4. Yes that's what I am trying to do, we currently use a local proxy server running squidnt to provide us with local filtering etc. Our ISP E2BN provides levels of filtering on different ports, middle, upper school etc. and we have squidnt configured to route user groups to the appropriate ports. Like you I have come to the conclusion it can't be done with ISA Server. Guess I will stick with SquidNT and give my brain a rest
  5. Does anybody know if there is a way I can point a specific set of users to a specific upstream proxy server. I think web chaining might be the answer but I cant see how to do it. For example point user group A to proxy.anywhere.com on port 8081 and user group B to proxy.anywhere.com on port 8082. Or is there another way to do it?
  6. You can download free converter packs to convert Works files for Office from Microsoft. Do a search on Works converter at the microsoft download site. I also tell the kids to save there files from Works as RTF files, not that they remember.

    ISA Server

I am using ISA Server 2006 on a Win2003. I have only recently taken a look at this, and it might just be me, but it does not seem to be straightforward.

    ISA Server

I am currently running Squidnt as a local proxy server. I have 3 instances of squid running on different ports each forwarding to a different port on the e2bn proxy servers. The reason for this is that each port on the e2bn proxy servers provide different levels of filtering, middle, upper, staff etc. Then through gpo's I can direct users to the apporpiate port. My question is can this be done with isa server.
  10. Take a look at FWNUA http://fwnua.sourceforge.net/ it might be of use.
  11. Just wondering what, if any, sort of print quotas you set for pupils. We are using PMP and want to start setting a monthly limit to the number of pages pupils can print.

    WSUS SP1

I run WSUS on several single server networks, mostly primary schools, and have had no problems with it. A couple of them are quite low spec.
  13. Thanks for the info will try installing NIC driver during GUI. Saw your answer in other thread. Have tried adding driver to 23K cd but just ended up with a blank screen. If I am unable to get the NIC working before the time out how do I complete the install manually? Out of interest I am trying this on a what is supposed to be a server and not a workstation. It's a Fujitsu Siemens Econel 50 I hasten to add I did not recommend it.
  14. Have been attemtpting to install NLM unfortunately the Server NIC, an embeded Broadcom, is not being recognised by the W23K setup consequently the NLM setup falls over. I can however install the NIC driver once the NLM setup has finished. Does anybody know if a) Can I add the drivers to the W23K setup or b) Run the NLM setup again.
  15. It was a good day and well worth the journey. Plenty of food for thought and the tummy. Could do with more of the same. Jeremy
