  1. thanks for the replies. if i bridge the networks, is that a big deal? all the devices that i want to have on the dante network will be plugged into that side of the switch, and all the devices i want to be on the soundgrid network will be on that side of the switch. won't the router effectively just route the traffic between those devices on those sides? if i'm not connecting any of the devices to devices on the other vlan, the router won't route traffic there? is my thinking flawed?
  2. i'm using this guy.... https://amplifi.com/amplifi-hd it has a wan port and 4 gigabit ethernet on the back so i would think i'm good there. just didn't know if i needed to have a router that had vlan capabilities in order to access devices on the vlan'd switch. do i need to do anything to enable multicast traffic?
  3. i'm using a ubiquiti amplifi router. it has no vlan support. will the dhcp server still work in the different vlans and they just won't be able to talk to eachother? i need to be able to use my ipad to control devices in the vlan as well. will this work or do i absolutely just need to have a router with vlan support?
  4. I have a 16 port netgear managed switch GS316EP. My goal is to run Dante network traffic on half of it and Waves Soundgrid traffic on the other half. I also want the first half (Dante) to be able to talk to other random switches that i need it to without having to configure vlans on the other switches. Best I can tell, (and i'm very new to vlans) i probably shouldn't do anything to the first half of the ports that I want Dante on, and just create a vlan for the second half of the switch for waves soundgrid or is there another way to do this where the first half would also be on a vlan and could talk to outside switches? Another question. Can I hook up the same router to both sides of the switch and use the DHCP on the router for both the Dante and the Soundgrid side? Will this still accomplish what I want with the traffic being separated by the vlan but still able to talk or get internet to devices on both sides through the router. Hopefully that was all clear. Thanks!
