[h=2]About The Role[/h]
We have an exciting opportunity for a 1st Line Helpdesk Engineer to play a crucial role in the IT support team as a part of the Islington Council and London Schools ICT Partnership. As part of a wider team, reporting to the MIS and Helpdesk Manager, you will be one of the main points of contact for our clients. You will provide an efficient and effective helpdesk service, including high-quality 1st/2nd-line ICT technical support to schools and other education settings, primarily via remote support, with occasional onsite visits as required to support service delivery or absence cover. As a traded service provider, we are keen to deliver excellent customer service, ensuring that the best industry standard practices around technologies and cybersecurity are always followed. You will, therefore, be part of a team with plenty of learning and professional development opportunities. You will have the chance to work on complex projects, contribute to policies and procedures, and work with a wide variety of enterprise technologies, including:
Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems
Chrome OS, Windows, iOS and macOS devices
Enterprise wireless and VOIP systems
Enterprise anti-virus and endpoint protection
Data backup and recovery systems
Print management and accounting systems (e.g. Papercut)
IT Helpdesk Management Systems and Scheduling
To be successful in this role, you would need excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide high-standard customer service, phone etiquette, and a good working knowledge of helpdesk software. A good working grasp of remote support software and experience in technically complex problem-solving and fault resolution is essential. Extensive knowledge and expertise supporting Google Workspace would be beneficial.
This is primarily a working-from-home vacancy, with one or two days in the office, depending on business needs. A successful candidate will be required to visit the offices for the first few months.
If you have a keen interest in IT and would like to join our team, we would be delighted to hear from you.
About London Schools ICT PartnershipThe School ICT Support Partnership was established in 2018 between Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School, Arts and Media School and Islington Council School ICT Support. It was later joined by St Aloysius College and Beacon High School, bringing the total to four partner schools.
The Partnership's main principle is to provide schools with high-quality, good-value service focused on comprehensive support and a secure IT environment.
The organisation is run by the Partnership Board, which comprises all the secondary schools, the Islington Council team, and some primary schools. The board meets every 4-8 weeks, where matters such as the team's performance and service reports are reviewed, ideas and service shaping is discussed.

Islington is a place rich with diversity and culture. As a council our sense of purpose couldn’t be clearer: we serve. It’s in the logo. We are committed to challenging inequality in the borough and as one of the largest employers we know that to look after the place and the planet, we have to look after our people. Together we can change the future.
We are determined to create a more equal Islington, where everyone who lives here has an equal chance to thrive.
To do this, everyone who works at Islington Council lives by a set of values which guide us in everything that we do: collaborative, ambitious, resourceful, and empowering. They spell out ‘CARE’, which is what we think public service is all about.
