Thank you! I’ve found a way where I can add them into two bands by deselecting the Exclusive mode in the Curriculum by student window. This will work but the only way to do this is student by student individually which isn’t ideal!

Hi all, After some expertise - been timetabling using Nova T6 for a few years now but have hit a bit of a brick wall when it comes to a solution to my current problem! Here's the key info: - Year 11 split into two bands (x and y). - Y11x maths are on against Y11y Science and vice versa. (Students split around tier entries etc) First time I've done this combination. This is all fine but here is where the issue is. Initially I had 11x Eng against 11y Core P.E and vice versa. For the majority of the time, the whole year group does English but twice a fortnight, half the year groups are doing P.E. This has always worked in the past as Maths and Science were blocked across both bands so moving any students within English only affected their Core P.E class. But now that Maths and Science are in two bands, any movement in English sets would impact both of these subjects. I want Y11 English to be blocked across both bands so they have free rein to set them as they wish (not linked to the maths and science setting.) But I also want P.E to be included. But with different registers. Currently, I have them set up as one block across both bands and have essentially kept it as 11x and 11y but in one band. So for instance, the first four classes (11x) would be doing English on AMon1 and the second four classes (11y) would be doing Core P.E. All fine, except I want the P.E classes to be gender split and have different sets/groupings to the English ones. Is there a way to do this? I thought about creating an extra two bands and having English and Core P.E sat in those but I don't know if a student can be in two bands (as they'd need to be in x or y as well.) Or do I need to use Alternative Curriculum? Or something else? Any ideas welcomed! Happy to clarify anything too! Thanks Andrew

Thank you! This could work! I guess the only downside to this would be that I'd lose the flexibility of staffing it with different people? For instance, I might need one Maths teacher to do a booster one day but a different one another day. If it added them as an additional class in that block, the staffing would repeat fortnightly? I guess I could solve that just be doing it as cover on SIMS. I guess that would the same problem with AC as everything will repeat fortnightly due to how I've set up the cycle.

Hi all, Hoping someone has a genius idea! I'm looking for a more efficient way to deliver our Y11 booster timetable. Currently, I do it all on Excel and create paper registers and then have a nightmare with cover through the admin team! I want to find a way to be able to run booster revision sessions at the same time as having the normal timetable running. For example: There is a GCSE History Exam on a Wednesday morning. On Tuesday afternoon, last lesson, I want to put on a History booster session. I obviously only want the History students to be assigned to this booster and everyone else remain on normal timetable. The History teacher isn't timetabled to teach Y11 during this last lesson on the Tuesday. Currently, I go through all the exams dates with the timetable open and map out in Excel who is going where and who will be teaching them for the whole 5/6 weeks that exams are running. It's quite the spreadsheet. It works fairly well but it is a huge task and takes days to get sorted and can cause issues because we are not using SIMS. The only solution I have come up with so far is using Alternative Curriculums. I could create Alternative Curriculum activities and and name it 'History Booster'. I could then assign individual students to this activity for the particular period that I want it to run and staff it. This idea seems to work well for small groups. As far as I'm aware, the only way to add students to ACs are on an individual basis? Which would be a lengthy process, especially if I am trying to allocate the whole Year group to different maths boosters depending on tier entry and ability for example. Has anyone got any bright ideas that would help? Thanks in advance!! Andrew

Hi all, First post! First-time timetabler this year using Nova-T6 - I've got the timetable all sorted and am happy with it so just on little tweaks now and I'm trying to fix an issue that I'm not sure is fixable! In Y10 and 11, we have Core Science time, built as a standard block, and then extra option science time for those who have selected Triple Science as an option. Basically, there are seven sets in the core science block, where two of them are triple science classes. So these triple classes have six lessons a fortnight in the core science block and an additional four lessons a fortnight in the option block but are taught as a triple science class throughout the ten lessons. We have three teachers teaching each triple class, one for each of the sciences and it all works well. However, where it doesn't work well is when we have to do reports. Whoever is set up as the lead teacher has their name on all the reports, despite only teaching them for one of the sciences. What I'd like to do is somehow specify which lessons are Bio (3 a fortnight), Chem (4 a fortnight) and Phys (3 a fortnight) and assign teachers to these so that when we run reports to send home, the teacher who is teaching the specific science is named. Is this possible somehow with the current set-up or do I need to change it somehow? I was hoping there would be some way to create a sub-level or something within the block where I can specify which lessons are designated to which specific subject and then link that with a teacher. Any advice would be great! Thanks Andrew
