    Proxy problems

I've not read through the entire thread so apologies if this has already been suggested or if you know this isn't the case, but are you sure this is machine related. I had a similar problem once where issues manifested themselves on a particular machine. It turned out that the PC seemed to corrupt the profile of everyone who logged on, and the problem then transferred itself to another machine by corrupt profiles. It acted like a virus but we never found any virus activity. Does the same teacher have the same problem if they log on somewhere else? Do all users on this laptop have the same problem? I assume you're using roaming profiles? If you make sure all profiles are deleted and delete the users profile from the server, do they still have the same issue? Probably unlikely as I think you said this is a new build, but it's worth a shot!!
  2. You may be able to control this with Bridgechecker, but not sure? Even if not, it's a useful bit of software: BridgeChecker Software at WLAN Book.com
  3. Do you have c:\windows\system32 in your path statement?
  4. Try copying gpupdate.exe from a machine that's working OK to c:\windows\system32 and try again. If all machines are affected, it may be worth running a virus scan. I've not heard of any viruses that delete gpupdate.exe but you never know!!
  5. Hi Arcath, What OS are you using, XP, Vista or Win7? Do you get an error when trying to run gpupdate? We often have issues with GPOs not running propely on XP and the first thing to check is the c:\Windows\Security\logs\winlogon.log file. It will tell you if all of your GPOs have run properly. We usually find that if an msi fails to deploy for some reason, it will stop all subsequent GPOs from applying. Hope this helps.
