  1. Hi, Hoping that someone can help with this. I've seen other schools set up music to play whilst children move from one lesson to another. The children have as long as the sound clips plays to get to their next lesson, then the bell sounds. Does anyone have this set up and could advise which application they use to schedule the music? Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone, Thanks for the replies! QR's seem to be the way forward!
  3. Hi all, I'm just looking at options for collecting parental responses to surveys at parents evenings and other school events. We need to survey parents when they come into school somehow. I guess like having a tablet in school that parents can fill in a survey on their way out. I don't really want them sending SMS messages out with links to surveys so it would have to be something that could be completed whilst at the event. Has anyone set anything similar before? Any advice would be great if possible? Thanks
  4. Thanks for the replies! We have a lot of trolleys but they don't have the built in timer. I've seen those before. I'll have a look at a timer plug which we can use. My concern is that staff will loose the plug if it's not directly attached and fixed to the power cable from the trolley. I can see them left plugged into the wall socket and the trolley plugged into a different socket. We may need to look at dedicated charging stations for trolleys so that they are charged correctly. We find most trolleys aren't even plugged in too so I guess we have been saving power all along! I guess power saving will have to be a priority for everyone now. Does anyone else have any other plans for saving energy in terms of IT equipment usage?
  5. Hi Everyone, I've been tasked with putting a range of IT energy saving measures in place for our schools. WOL & Scheduled Shutdown's are already in place but I was looking at scheduling the charge on our laptop trolleys. Is anyone doing this and have any recommendations? Thankfully I managed to stop our FM Team with their recommendation of shutting our AC off in the server room overnight! I can see this being a challenge!
  6. Morning all, I'm just looking at this at the moment for the Trust that I work for. I'm struggling to work out a fair way to deal with damages/repairs. Does anyone have any thoughts or could let me know how they deal with repair costs? We're looking to hold a central IT budget which will replace all IT hardware for each school on a 5-7 year basis. I'm thinking that schools should pay for repairs themselves as it means that they have more ownership of the equipment and would look after it better. Our central pot of cash can be for developmental/replacement work then. Otherwise I guess it would be holding back 10% or so to cover these repairs.
