Wouldn't work here. It's for a terminal which auto logs on, loads IE to Netscaler then users launch their ICA connection. We have a shortcut on the desktop that loads our netscaler login but sometimes this is accidentally deleted once the citrix session ends and someone minimises to the desktop. They don't actually use the desktop on the machine as this is just used as the back end for citrix. I will check out the powershell options thanks.

I need to remove folder permission inheritance and grant a user read only access to the desktop folder to stop icons being deleted. I've used the following commands but doesn't seem to work. Any ideas as to why? ICACLS C:\Users\USERID\Desktop\ /inhertitance:d ICACLS C:\Users\USERID\Desktop\ /grant USERID: (OI)(CI)R

I was thinking that, but every time the monitor in unplugged/plugged in it re-appears.

Every time someone plugs in a screen using a display port, the speakers assume the monitor has speakers and defaults sound to the monitor. This is not the case and we would like the speakers to stay set as internal by default even when a screen is plugged in. Any ideas? Edit : Just to add, I would not like to use a software solution, A script/registry key would be preferable.

Bare with me here... An external company provides us with till software for 15 different locations. The till software is a published app through a citrix connection from their servers. They current provide 15 different .exe files (made with (WinAutomation) which is basically a macro which launches the browser, logs in, and opens the published app. Unfortunately this no longer works since we have implemented AppLocker and some other issues due to a new x64 bit machine. We cannot put excemptions in AppLocker as 1 file the exe references is cmd.exe and another is in the users temp folder which is only created when launched. Logging in manually using the Citrix Gateway URL works fine but the .exe doesn't. We can't ask the users to login manually each time as there a different logins depending on the location they are at so they are used to just loading the .exe for that location. Can anyone think of a way to automate the logon and app launch process with stored credentials?

Hi I have an executable that I need a non admin to run. The .exe is allowed via applocker but the .exe calls on cmd when it runs which is blocked by applocker so it fails to launch. Is there a way I can leave cmd blocked with applocker but allow this certain application to run it? Thanks Shane

Re-assign the licence in admin pages. We had this problem for about 200 students. This fixed it.

Does anyone know how I can get a list of all our users in O365 with their email aliases? Cannot seem to find a standard report than can do this. Thanks Shane

365 - Some users not getting mailboxes provisioned
shane-meh replied to synaesthesia's topic in Cloud Services
We had the same issue. Over 200 users (About 5%) were not provisioned correctly. We had to go in 1 by 1 and re-assign the licence. Hopefully Microsoft has now fixed this! -
Hi All Not sure if I have posted this is the correct section. (Feel free to move if not) I have been tasked with setting up vPro on some test clients. We have our server set up with the certificate installed. How do I now get the clients talking to the server? Is there an agent that needs to be installed on the client?
-
Thanks. Yes we have a few ThinClients out there but we are using old machines in our café area so was just wondering if there was a way to do this on a windows platform. The issue doesn't affect thin clients or off site users.

Is there a way to lock a Citrix screen? We run Citrix in a Open Access setup so when users logon to receiver the desktop automatically loads. When the press Windows + L it locks the main windows PC which has an auto logon account. Is there a way of pressing Windows + L within the citrix desktop so a user can pop to the toilet?

Hi All Does anyone know a way of by passing the Citrix 'You are logged off page'? We currently has a trial running of open access PC's and this page is causing confusing as students do not realise you can click to logon. I would prefer that when people logoff it goes straight to the receiver logon page. Thanks Shane

Hi All I am trying to set up a system where people can send pictures via bluetooth to a plasma screen. The screen will be connected to a laptop or computer with bluetooth and running a slideshow of photos in a folder. I find that I can only receive one file at a time and I have to click to 'receive a file' each time. Do you know if there is a way to automate this 'receive a file' so it just receives it automatically. I would like the system to run by itself with no user input. Cheers

Compatibility pack is fine, I have even manually installed this but still the same issue??
-
Hi All We have Office 2003 around our campus and have the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack installed so users can open 2007 documents in 2003. The problem we get is that the file association for .docx is registered with moc.exe which is the Compatibility Pack rather than Winword.exe. It then doesnt open and throws up an error. Selecting Winword.exe as the application to open the file fixed the problem. Is there a better way to fix this instead of asking the users to right click the file to select the application? Thanks

Does anyone know of a script I can use so that the monitor does not go into standby. It needs to be specific to a user account not the computer. We have one which turns the screen saver off but now need one to stop the "turn monitor off after x mins"
-
Hi All We have a teaching account we use here that all staff use. We want to have the screensaver and standby disabled when that account is logged in as it causes problems with staff playing videos or long powerpoints etc. We want this specific to the account so when the account is logged off the screensaver and standby still work on other users and when not logged in. Any ideas? Many Thanks

Anyone got any ideas? We are looking to start this up from scratch so would like some pointers? Thanks

Auto Defrag & Reducing User Profiles
shane-meh replied to shane-meh's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
I think we will keep with the current set up we have at the moment as just saves work load. Are there any other ways to reduce the profile size/compact registry? -
Auto Defrag & Reducing User Profiles
shane-meh replied to shane-meh's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Thanks for the info, Our profiles are roaming profiles which cannot really be changed as we are a very big establishment and lecturers and staff would not agree to this. I do completely understand that Local profiles are the much better option but it's not down to me to implement changes
