  1. I am currently an IT Tech, I won't be getting outsourced. The current setup we have is Office 365 back-end so staff have office 365 email addresses etc. however we still use traditional network storage and we're not sure if staff will be able to comprehend the idea of Office 365 storage such as SharePoint etc. I assume the new company will be addressing my concerns however I have been asked to look into them also just so know what we can do at the time.
  2. Hi everyone, I’ve created a new account for this post as this is a little sensitive. I have just been informed that we are going to be moving to another IT provider. The company we will be moving to has already be identified and the timeline has been set out. I have been asked to think of the best way to move forward in terms of getting staff ready (they don’t know yet and won’t until much nearer the time, possibly a couple of days before) to use office 365 as we don’t currently use SharePoint / OneDrive etc. and also the best way to communicate the change of email addresses for the school. In terms of the best way to communicate the change of email address my initial thoughts were an announcement on the school’s website nearer the time as well as emailing parents via our MIS. In terms suppliers etc. we would need to email them and inform them separately of the changes. We would have an auto forwarder on the old email address, but this would only be valid for 30 days. The harder aspect would be the training of staff to use office 365 as this change is proposed to happen over the Whitsun holiday so staff would need to have some documentation or online course etc. they could look at over the holiday period to familiarise themselves with. As the changes won’t be in place, I wouldn’t be able to create custom user guides as we normally do here. I’m assuming that the new company will have SharePoint as a mapped drive so at least that will be familiar to our users. Can anyone advise on how they approached this when they have been in this situation? Are there any initial questions I need to be asking (final details of transition are still being worked on and I won’t really be involved much with this)? The new company are aware of our needs and is working with the business manager to ensure these are all met. The new company will be providing support on an ongoing basis which is good as I haven’t had any training in new technologies since joining the school 6 years ago (never seen the Office 365 back-end etc.). Any advise would be gratefully received. Sorry I can't provide any more information but at the moment this is all I know. Thanks
