We don't use SOLUS, but I will run a few tests when I get a few moments to see if I can replicate the problem (aside from running SIMS Applications again). Could well just be an isolated incident, or as you say SIMS Applications could've been reinstalled since applying the patch. I may have tried a number of things when the 'Date Selector' issue came about last month, although it doesn't look like that is the case - 99% of the files in my SIMS installation directory haven't been updated since March when we installed 7.162.

Ah, that's most likely 'my bad'. I call the updates by which Census they give you access to. So the Spring update was likely the autumn update, and the Summer update was likely the Spring update. Because it was apparently so long ago, I think I was under the impression that the latest update (7.162) had reapplied the workstation 'fault' where the Individual Reports do not remove sections where no data is present but in actual fact it was always only a problem with this latest update. (Sorry guys, Friday afternoon!) I have no idea how the issue has managed to return, I applied the patch originally in April and somehow it has come back. The only other patch we have applied since then was the 'Date Selector Patch' in May, so unless applying that patch reverts the changes of the old one - I have no idea. I have reapplied the AM7 patch which has fixed the issue and I can still select dates. So everything is back to norm' on my side.

Oh, I didn't realise the issue had happened again. The issue has returned to all the workstations that were originally patched for us, assuming due to the Summer update. You would think they would've implemented the same fix in the new release... Gotta love Crapita sometimes. I will also apply the patch and let you know if it works again - fingers crossed.

This was an issue that came about with the Spring release this year - the fix for it was a workstation patch that had to be applied to any machine using the 'Individual Reports' within SIMS. The specific file from Capita was called 'AM7-and-Profiles-Report-Tag-Patch.EXE'. This ended up fixing it for us and several other schools we support. I still have the patch to hand, but I'm not in a position to say for sure that your problem is the one stated above. That being said, I would give it a try anyway - It's a workstation patch so it will have no effect on your database.

Turns out you have to apply the DfE subject codes to each subject for them to appear within this panel. It will then also enable it to calculate automatically from the curriculum. You can do this in Tools > Setups > Subjects I also only originally thought this was required for TA's.. And not all teachers! Was clearly having one of them days. Although I don't recall it being for all teachers in the past...

Can anyone tell me where the 'Curriculum for Teachers and Teaching Assistants' part of the School Workforce Census picks up the 'General Subject' selections? As it stands we only have 1 option in this drop-down list which is 'NAP - Not Applicable', however this option is in fact an invalid selection and I can't find anywhere where we can add new options. I'm assuming it's likely something that's going to need to be imported, but to confirm is there anyone else with the same issue? Or does anyone know of anything I should have already done in order to get them to show? FYI - the details don't calculate from the curriculum for us, as TA's don't have timetables

If it is a persistent error and happens every time you do the same thing, then it's likely to be a software fault. Try reinstalling SIMS.Net on your workstation and see if it helps.

Timetable periods/totals shouldn't matter. If they're attached to the course/class in Curriculum Assignment then the hours should be applied to the student from what is set in Course Manager. Each Sixth Form/Post-16 is different to another, so it is likely your system works differently - for example, we have some students doing more hours than others - so it's best to use Course Manager to calculate the hours. Registration itself is classified as 'Non-Qualification' time, since we have a 'Tutorial' lesson which is essentially an extended registration each Friday we added this time to the 'Non-Qualification' hours for the Tutorial 'course'. General guided learning hours can also be added to this if they can be spent for any lesson, if not they can just be added to each course separately. To my knowledge, across the two Post-16 years a student must qualify for a minimum of 1200 learning hours in order to receive full-time funding. Our average is 650 for Year 12 and 600 for Year 13.

Error 1994 is solved by entering Qualification Hours and Non-Qualification Hours into each Post-16 course in Course Manager. You then need to calculate the hours for each student for both this Academic Year and last Academic Year through Tools > Academic Management > Course Manager > Maintain Programmes of Study Select all (CTRL + A) and select 'Calculate hours from courses' - Then save. Most Post-16 courses are around 150 hours each year, non-inclusive of Guided Learning Hours (if any).

Further to the issue above, I have submitted a Change Request to Support.Net for the bulk-updating of grade set values in template formulas. If anyone would like to further promote this functionality the change request number (CR) is: 1409-1322933.

It'll be quicker to update each one manually instead of cloning the templates. I must admit I love the new cloning features, and if they had been in place a couple of months ago would have saved me hours of work. They'll be a great asset going forward. And yes, updating the formulas in the columns fixes everything so it was just the fact the old values were still in place that the boundaries were not functioning as required. Time to spend a few hours updating each one! Happy days!

Oh my god, vikpaw you absolute legend! That's exactly it... The formula is using the old values still. Is there no way to update these aside from doing each one manually? The only reason I ask is because I have over 100 templates that will need this updating on...

I've made it so that the changes to the grade set take effect immediately/throughout the entire time as there is only one data within it which its the grade sets initial start date. You are correct in that it does have hidden formulas to calculate the additional points, and then the columns you see simply convert those points to a grade. The hidden columns are review only and do not store data anywhere and the grade set for the KS4 Target within the template is the one i am editing, so it makes no sense at all! Is there a patch in existence that 'refreshes' assessment and double-checks values within grade sets? I know there are similar patches for other areas of the system, just wondering if one was available for Assessment also... We are currently mid-contract exchange in terms of our support unit and should be returning to the normal Capita support shortly, but until that happens we are somewhat 'in the dark'.

I'm trying to get my head around how values are determined in marksheets on aspects with specific grade sets attached. For example, lets say I'm trying to calculate KS4 targets from KS2 APS... Student A has a KS2 APS of 21, or a KS2 Fine Points value of 21.7. This means the points value of their KS4 target should be 39, or 39.7. AKA a grade D. However, our system is recognising it as a grade C since it's so close to the Grade C boundary, although I thought it only selected the grade after it passed it's points value within the Grade Set? Another example.. Student B has a KS2 APS of 22.7, which normally would equate to a 'D' at KS4 since his APS mean's an average of a 3b at KS2. (It's very rare they would achieve a grade C) So to accommodate for this in our grade set I decided to change the value of a 'C' to 41 (This is fine as it only impacts on target grade values, the grade set isn't used for anything else). However, apparently when i change this in the grade set and hit calculate again (it should now calculate to a 'D' in the marksheet) it persists to be a 'C' grade. Even changing the points value of the C to 42 or 42.01 doesn't help. Nor does 43... I could likely go on! Apparently updating the grade set (I've also deleted all past results for the KS4 aspect so it has nothing else to reference or go back to, it should be fresh data) does nothing. Has anyone experienced this before? There is nothing worse than a system that appears to simply ignore anything you do, when you know it should normally work. As far as I know there is no way of performing or forcing an 'update' process for the marksheets to get the new grade set values (the aspect shows them as the new values also) so I'm completely lost on how to go about this now. Here's an example of a marksheet (FYI) The original aim was to get anything below a 24 to equal a 'D' target.. But now the aim is to simply get the marksheet to get the new values from the grade set. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated!

Then there may be other areas where it's being used, for example, Assessment Marksheets/Reports. I had a similar issue in the past, and about a year after it let me delete it. I simply marked it as 'inactive' until then. Make sure there's no 'history' where the group has been used/has data set. If you change the 'Academic Year' within the User Defined Group do any additional members set in the past show up? I personally don't deal with UDG's too much so I'm afraid there's not much more I can suggest aside from contacting your support group for a point in the right direction.
