Hi, I am trying to force web-apps onto devices using GPO. Using Google, it's quite obvious how to do it, however when I go to set the policy, it doesn't allow multiple lines of text. If I copy and paste this example: [ { "url": "https://www.contoso.com/maps", "create_desktop_shortcut": true, "default_launch_container": "window" }, { "url": "https://app.contoso.edu", "default_launch_container": "tab" } ] In GPO, there is only one line of text available. I've tried using the latest ADMX files from Microsoft too.. very strange. Is anyone else getting this behaviour?

Thanks very much for these. I have tried both suggestions and unfortunately neither work. The browser does not produce any error logs or crash logs as it doesn't actually 'crash' it just disappears.

Thanks for your reply. I failed to mention we did try this, as well as completely removing the Edge data folder in the profile. We've even tried the beta versions of Edge and they exhibit the same behavior. Chrome is unaffected.

Hello, We have a problem in our school, where a handful of users cannot print in Microsoft Edge. The browser will immediately close, not leaving a crash report or trace of a closure and will close even if you print to PDF. I have tried a fresh profile and incognito mode without success. Any ideas where to start?

I am having trouble getting my head around something. We have laptops that go home with children for the majority of the time, that are on W10 and managed on the A.D..currently filtered by software that filters the machine, not just the browser, by creating what is a local proxy on the device. They are locked down pretty hard and so far, we have only had a handful of kids rebuild them. I am tasked to install Smoothwall Cloud, which is an extension and I am thinking this is not going to be adequate for children to use at home due to the fact there are ways around extension based filtering. 1. What is to prevent users running their own browser - yes I could block USB but what about the App Data folder? If I block this, users would not be able to use Teams and OneDrive if I recall? 2. Prevent shortcuts - I am aware you can create a shortcut and add your own string to the end of it to load edge with extensions disabled.. how could I prevent this? 3. What if the extension simply fails to load or crashes? The browser could continue to run un-filtered. 4. Finally, what about undiscovered vulnerabilities? These are my initial findings in my limited time I have had to test. Can anyone enlighten me on what they would do or if I am simply confused about what seems to be a vulnerable product? Thank you.

Hello, I have inherited a school with many hundreds of laptops that are used/owned by children that go home and are kept by them (literally one per pupil). The laptops are very slow and often use all of their 4GB RAM running Win10. It has come to my attention that they are all running 1909.. and you can see where this is going. I can't get the laptops back and I expect if I allow updates to them, we would have a lot of complaints when a feature update installs. What would you do to keep these things up to date?

Thank you. I suspect the problem might be the profile as if I log on to a workstation with a fresh profile, the screensaver activates as expected so I don't want to give up but this is so much time for a screensaver.

I might have to go down the power options route now sadly because the screensaver does now kick in (great), but it doesn't actually lock the screen! I can't believe it!

Prevent Users Going to C: and or AppData from Start Menu
jamwatn replied to jamwatn's topic in Windows 10
Hello, thanks for getting back to me. We did try this but unfortunately it prevents OneDrive / Teams from running. -
Hello, we have found that we are going to need to try to prevent users from accessing their app data folder and writing files. You an absolutely prevent users from going to these folders using File Explorer, but is there a way to prevent users from simply typing C: on their keyboard bringing up search and allowing access? Thanks.

Hello, Microsoft was unable to help me with this understandably because it is a difficult one, but it is their product!! A user has found out that their calendar was set to 'Can view all details' in Sharing and Permissions in O365 but they would like to know when and who changed this. Also, I would like to audit every calendar to see what is set for the entire organisation. Does anyone have any ideas on an answer for this? Thanks

Ridiculously the site that I manage, does not have a policy to lock screens. The amount of unlocked workstations that users leave is unreal. I've added a 5 minute screensaver which applies through GPO, however not all devices seem to be entering an idle state. Do screensavers not work anymore? Google reveals that it may be more common than I thought and I cannot believe I am being beaten by a screensaver!

[ms office - o365] Deploying 365 Updates on SCCM - Problems
jamwatn replied to jamwatn's topic in Office Software
I've had a further go at the link you have send me. It updates the registry as expected, however Office still displays current channel and then SCCM begins to deploy 'Current Channel' still. Does anyone else deploy Current?
