Issue has now seen resolved. It was a few keys in the registry in our ntuser.man profile that needed deleting. \software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Sessioninfo windows 22h2 or earlier ignored this key but later windows 23h2 onwards didn’t and honoured it.

Quick update, fresh install 25H2, second login attempt still happens but OpenShell loads this time. No other system tray apps like SophosUI, windows Security, Securus, Smartboard load…. Is it the profile stopping it? It weird how it’s only every the second login attempt on a PC (post turn on/reboot) where there is this issue.

Just out of interest, has anyone managed or bothered with customising the quick settings panel? Removing cast button, nearby sharing etc… for all users.

Tried that and the full ISO but failed, so clean install it is..

That’s what I’m thinking 😂 tried to upgrade to 25h2 failed, so fresh install it is, reinstalled base apps and see what happens from there.

We have held off 24h2 and 25h2 becuase we had initial issues with UNC hardened paths where people had no access to the netlogon folder etc.. these were DFS shares. Have people had to address issues that appeared in 24h2 and above?

It’s all our new PCs that have the same image on. We use a single mandatory profile (located on c:\ in a read-only state) for all users and is ok on 22h2 PCs. Something is not quite right on our 23h2 PCs. we don’t customise our images, this was a fresh install, installed some programs, added to domain, then cloned to all new PCs as normal. it just seems strange that it only happens on second login attempt, no other login, doesn’t matter who it is either….

Hi all, looking for some help with a weird issue. windows 22h2 - no issues windows 23h2 - after turning on the PC, first user logs in, all programs run at login as normal (Sophos, Openshell, windows security etc…), the second login attempt these programs fail to run. Third attempt and later logins are ok and run all the apps that would normally appear in system tray… it’s nothing to do with fast user switching or PC hibernation as we have these disabled. any help is greatly appreciated, thanks..

Yes indeed, hence my confusion to their findings. For me if the ICO say jump, I’m asking how far :-)

They have more knowledge than most of us do but why say the child can give consent without parents when under the rule I quoted suggests they can’t and can only refuse, not give. I wish they would clarify more what they meant by this.. at least this school being made an example of will help other schools not to fall in the same trap. I still think GDPR is a massive mine field and long gone are those days we just did it without red tape. Whether it be for the better or not that’s another debate.

the ICO article suggested: "Our reprimand also notes most students were old enough to provide their own consent. Therefore, parental opt-out deprived students of the ability to exercise their rights and freedoms." Is it not the current law that parental consent must be given by a parent for any child under the age of 18, therefore most students would not be old enough to give consent themselves. A child can only refuse if consent is given by a parent. The Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2012/9/part/1/chapter/2 Notification and Parental Consent What the law says: 1) Schools and colleges must notify each parent of a pupil under the age of 18 if they wish to take and subsequently use the child’s biometric data as part of an automated biometric recognition system. Seems like the ICO got this bit wrong? Thoughts?
