clear space on server

Almost ran out of space on server c: drive! Deleted the following in an effort to eek some space:

$NTServicePackUninstall...$ folders from C:\WINDOWS and $NTUninstallKb....$ folders from C:\WINDOWS, and I am just about to move the swap file over to the extra large disk we had installed last year. Anything else I could delete to make more room without affecting anything else?

While I'm at changing the swap file what do people reccomend fopr the swap file, put it at system managed or manually set one to the suggested sizes?

One thing you can do is to use linkd (resource kit tool) to make a junction point for stuff like c:\windows\driver cache to the D: drive (or where ever)

 

This way, the drivers go on drive D: but the link makes them appear to be on C: - this is a quick fix to make space.

 

Another folder which can move is c:\windows\softwaredistribution - stop the windows update service before you try and move it.

Moved the swap file, and after some pruning of files I now have a healthy (compared to the 11Mb it did have!) 1.7Gb of space.

Have you tried running the disk clean up wizard? It will normally sort a whole of temp files.
