Windows 10, Minecraft, Intel Q33 and Java

Just got bit by https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8139221

 

On Windows 10 on a Q33 motherboard MinecraftEdu fails to load if you have java >= 1.8 update 60

So, to fix: Install older Intel gpu driver (Win 7) from https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/graphics-drivers-for-intel-q33-express-chipset.html

 

Install Java 1.8u51 from https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/graphics-drivers-for-intel-q33-express-chipset.html

 

Once installed copy folder in Program Files to shared location, then you can run a bat file etc:

@echo off
cd /d P:\minecraftedu\
start \\server\share\jre1.8.0_51\bin\javaw.exe -jar Launcher.jar

 

Oh yeah, also you never have to install java again now, happy days. (assuming you don't have some other ancient software)
