Any experince of Makewav.es, Skoodle or similar?

There are are few 'safe social networking' alternatives around and I was wondering if anyone had experience of them, especially in the primary sector.

 

https://www.makewav.es/ is free for the basic offering, but with 100MB of storage, I doubt this is enough which means you'd have to pay to use it fully.

 

Skoodle is pay per pupil and seems a more limited offering.

 

Has anyone had any experience that they'd be willing to share of these or any alternatives please?

I have knowledge of both so feel free to email/PM and I'll let you know the feedback I've had from schools. Both have advantages and a few drawbacks depending on what you want to use it for.

 

Another site which might be worth looking at is Edmodo as that is a free service and has had great feedback from schools.

We've been using makewav.es at our High School for a little bit. Our student reporters use it to blog about special school events. We're probably not using it fully to be honest.

 

Edmodo is a nice looking platform which seems to be exciting teachers. I've set up a profile myself, and it does seem to have some nice features.

 

I'm sure these types of services will end up replacing VLEs in many schools before long.
