Yup microsoft are involved I wonder if that will be the end of Dell systems with ESXI embedded?

Erm, M$ are paying $2bn out of $24bn, that's about 8% of the business. Would that give them enough clout? I doubt they'd have any say on the board and it's just a investment opportunity for them. How much do they own in Apple? or have they sold it all now?

It could well be, but they may well see an opportunity there? Maybe the next Surface will be made be dell who know.s

It does give them better access to hardware supply chains so it may work out for them in that way.

They did the same thing with Facebook, bought 10% stake and it guarantees them to use Microsoft services in the future.

The money from Microsoft is in the form of a loan. Dell should be able to pay it back in no time. What's wrong with that?

 

More importantly Dell are no longer beholden to shareholders (unlike HP and its incompetent management).

 

I wonder if that will be the end of Dell systems with ESXi embedded?

When Dell bought Wyse, they didn't stop supporting VMware View, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop & Microsoft RDS.

well all i can say is i hope they stop buying up companies and ruining them! their recent aquisition of quest and made them a nightmare to deal with

Microsoft is trying to keep their strangle of the ecosystem.

 

No doubt we will be soon seeing Dell bring out all these wacky windows 8 frankenmachines that will miserably fail Oh I think they already did that!
