Hi all,

Print driver issues are driving me crazy.

We have a new ID Card printer here and I have installed the x64 drivers fine.

I am getting the error message:

"The selected driver must be installed remotely from an x86 computer using Type 3 (User mode) drivers."

If anyone has any ideas to get round this to try I would be very grateful!

Have you tried what it says? or is it giving errors still?

Basically on a 32bit machine, open the printer you're trying to add the drivers for, go to properties, sharing tab, additional drivers, then x86

The drivers should then back-copy to the server

I've come across this before. Logon to a 32Bit workstation or server, add the printer and specify the drivers. The 32Bit drivers will then be imported into your 64Bit print server for you.

Most printer companies allow you to install 32Bit and 64Bit drivers directly on 2008 R2, but some don't such as Oce printers/photocopiers for example.
