Movie Maker windows 7 issues

Has anyone experienced the same issues? or have a solution?

 

Client computers are running windows 7 sp1 + latest updates. I installed the windows live movie maker and photo gallery. The wsus is set to install any windows updates and updates for the windows live movie maker and photo gallery.

 

Students log on to a computer - it thinks about it for a while then a message on screen says an update is required if they click install they do not have admin rights to install the update, if they click cancel movie maker closes.

 

If i log on as administrator - it does not ask about an update, it allows me to run the movie maker program or the students work.

 

I have noticed there was a newer version which i installed, on some students computers it then allows them to access their work, other times it asks about the update again.

 

Is there a way to stop this from happening, its a complete pain to have to do this for 200 clients!

 

any advice is greatly appreciated as its a new roll out of windows 7 at the school so still trying to reslove a number of other issues including this one

Look in the control panel and make sure only 1 version of movie maker is installed. It could be that the admins are opening one version (so no update prompt) with students opening a previous version.

might even be a different shortcut if they use redirected start menu and you dont
