mbrunt Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Hi all, We run a 1 hour weekly "radio" station for students. We have a big monitor that we have mounted and we want to display some dynamic information, such as tweets, songs playing now and next etc. Is there any software (free?) out there that anyone knows of that could do this? We'd probably only need a few columns on the screen, one for tweets, one for text we've typed and one for an image? Thanks!
pslater Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Xibo is free and simple to use, so that's what I would recommend. Use it here for our signage and don't have any problems with it.
pslater Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 it probably won't do your automatic playing now and next though...
mbrunt Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 i didnt expect anything to be able to do it automatically tbh, ill investigate Xibo now thanks!
mbrunt Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 how dynamic can Xibo be? i'd literally like to be able to connect one pc up to the screen, and from another pc send content updates that appear fairly quickly? thanks
CAWJames Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Its as dynamic as you want it to be. It can show a ticker connected to an xml file. We have our database output all of our room bookings to xml files periodically, then xibo picks these up and displays room bookings. So all you would need to do, is set the ticker to update from the xml periodically, and change the xml file from your studio computer, maybe share it somewhere where both can access it. there is probably a much easier way, but that's the one off the top of my head!
