Sam_Brown Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Morning Guys, Does anyone here have any solutions to getting Sun Global Desktop working on Macs at all? SGD is our remote access solution we use to allow students and staff to work from home however we've had little to no luck getting it working on our new MacBook Airs (OSX 10.8). Hoping someone here has some experience with it!
kmount Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Hi Sam, What problem are you having specifically? Normally it's a one of the below: - X11 pkg not installed (normally see an error about x11 or connecting to a display failing) - Java version not set properly in the browser (Apple have recently 'tweaked' this in an update that changes things again) Understanding what you're seeing will help me help you fix it, we have a number of customers and staff using SGD with Macs including myself so I'm confident we'll get there. Cheers,
linescanner Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 You need to make sure you have X11 installed. What version of SGD and MAC/Browser are you using?
soveryapt Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Oooo .. I know this one .. I know this one .. lol .. Mac removed the X11 support, however you can use XQuartz - works brilliantly with SGD. Only issue you will also find is that if you use Chrome for accessing, you'll need to change browser (I use Firefox) as Java support has now been removed from Google Chrome for Mac (kinda hoping it gets brought back, but hey, I'm enjoying using Firefox again). XQuartz That is the link to the XQuartz site. Should explain all. :-)
